PASTOR, TALK TO US ABOUT...THE ECONOMY

Luke 12.13-31

PASTOR, TALK TO US ABOUT....

There are a number of social issues that are of interest to congregational members.  In these three weeks we will explore three issues:  health care, the economy and immigration.  In our United Methodist tradition, we will take a look at how to think about these issues theologically and biblically.

In these past few years, there has been significant worry about the economy and and our personal circumstances.  There have been issues regarding our national and global economies, employment, underemployment and unemployment, foreclosures and the gap between the rich and the poor.  What do we make of all of this?

The economy has been the number one topic of conversation these past few years.  It has been the number one issue of worry and stress for persons.  It has been the number one topic cited for "what keeps me awake at night."

In our scripture for this weekend, Jesus reminds us not to worry.  He invites us to put everything into perspective and reflect on what is truly important.   This weekend we are going to take a look at what is happening around us, to us and with us.  We will then take a look at what God is trying to say to us as we reset our lives to a different way of being.

See you this weekend.

Saturday Men's Ministry
mensbreakfast2

Saturday, January 15
7:30 AM, Fellowship Hall
This Month's program: Managing your Finances

Mr. Mark Heckman, Director of Operations for Elmbrook Church, will present the Biblical Perspective on Finances.  He will talk about money from a perspective of the Bible.  Is our money God's money?  What does God want us to do with the money we have?  Is it right to go deeply into debt?  Should we use money as a weapon with our wives and children?

The Saturday Men's Ministry seeks to share the Spirit of Jesus through fellowship among men as well as sponsoring and encouraging the men's involvement in mission activities beginning with mission at home in our own church.

We meet each month, usually the third Saturday, with a gathering which begins at 7:00 am, a hot breakfast at 7:30 am and a 9:00 am finish.
