Greetings Parents
On Tuesday the electric companies were extremely busy because of the ferocious winds that blow through our area and left many with no power. For those people who were powerless it could be deemed as a major inconvenience. I remember a year ago when we struck by a strong storm and had no power. The first few hours were kind of nice. I had work that I could do that did not rely on electricity. Once I started working on my student lesson, however, I realized that I had a limited time before my laptop battery would die.
My computer is a wonderful tool that I rely on daily. Without power, however, it would be a short time before it would no longer function. Over the past few weeks I have bumped into many of our parents and student who had not been to worship, Sunday school, or youth group in awhile. All were still excited about our ministry to students and parents, and they had been busy, or sick, or out of town. One hadn't been in a very long time due to travel soccer and said how much she missed it. Worship, Sunday School, or youth group for me has always been a time to express my devotion to God and fellowship with other believers. I recall going to church in college and feeling a new maturity in faith because I was choosing to go on my own.
There is another important thing about worship, however. It is a chance to recharge and renew my spiritual batteries. It is a place where I get to connect to a real source of power that my life needs each week. Jesus said, "You are the light of the world . . . let your light shine." When we miss worship, Sunday school, or youth group our spiritual batteries become depleted, and no matter how capable we are, our light will soon flicker out. And if you are attending regularly, call your friend who hasn't been there for awhile, nudge them to come. We all need the encouragement of a friend sometime.
As we look forward to the season of Advent, I pray you continue to keep your batteries recharged. I know for many of us, this time of the year can be extremely busy. Let's recharge together.
The pumpkin patch was a HUGE Success. Here is the pumpkin patch report. This was not the final report, but we surpassed last years totals!
Below you will find all of the current information on all events and activities for students. Do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
