Thought for the Day:

All our merely natural activities will be accepted, if they are offered to God, even the humblest.

Oct. 30/31: Jesus LIVES WITH HUMILITY
Mark 9:33-35
Reformation Sunday

Saturday at 5:00 pm
Sunday at 8:00, 9:00, and 10:30 am

In the 1500's, a man by the name of Martin Luther posted 95 statements onto the front door of the church in Wittenburg, Germany.  It was Professor Luther's way of advertising an upcoming discussion.  This discussion was focused on what he believed were the injustices of the church. With the recent invention of the printing press, these 95 statements took off throughout Europe.  The Protestant Reformation began.  Two hundred years later, Methodism began through the ministry of John Wesley in England.

This weekend we will celebrate this time in history.  We will also finish our sermon series, "To Be Like Jesus."  This week we are taking a look at the humility of Jesus.  One of the interesting aspects of humility is that we often associate it with weakness.  Jesus lived humbly while becoming great.  How did he do it?  He was able to put aside his ego and to focus on mercy.  We will look at some of those aspects of his life as we look at them in our lives as well.

I look forward to seeing you this weekend.
Pastor Susan

2nd FLOOR HALLWAY PAINTING

Saturday, Oct. 30 at 8 AM

Please consider this an "urgent plea" to get  help finishing the painting of the hallway on the second floor (outside of Rooms 210, 211 & 212) this Saturday, Oct. 30 at 8 AM.

The Sunday School Ministry teams are preparing for our "Fall Clean-up" (see this week's Joy Notes for more information) and special attention will be given to Rooms 210, 211 & 212 as our Sunday school ministry to children ages 0 - 4 years will be moving upstairs to these rooms on Nov. 7.  Having the hallway freshly painted would be such a blessing to the "Open House" which is planned for the children & families in these rooms on this day.

If you are willing to help this Saturday (even for an hour!) please email or call Dana Saxton at 414-964-2424 x113 or dsaxton@umcwfb.org

angel"ALL SAINTS' EVE" SUNDAY SCHOOL PARTY

Rotational Sunday School (K4-5th grade)

October 31 at 9 & 10:30 AM in Fellowship Hall

It's Halloween!  Many of the children will be ringing doorbells, traveling from house to house and having lots of fun later in the day.  BUT in Sunday school we are going to celebrate a night long ago when early Christians roamed dark streets,

peacefully guarded by God's angels.

Children are invited to WEAR COSTUMES depicting "Saints"....such as Peter, Stephen or Paul. Or have fun and dress as a St. Bernard!  A New Orleans Saints football player or even St. Louis!  Be creative! Children could also dress up as Angels or Heavenly creatures.

GAMES!  FOOD!  CRAFTS!  FUN FOR EVERYONE!  PARENTS WELCOME!

Thursday November 4
2:00 - 7:00 in Fellowship Hall

Every day, ordinary people are saved by some pretty extraordinary people: people who give blood.  Please call Jim Schacht at 414-332-2834 (home) or 414-231-2812 (work), or you can make an appointment at www.bcw.edu/umcwfb. If you are in good health, age 17 (16 with parental consent) and weigh at least 110 pounds, donating blood is quick, easy, and safe. Please give it a try!
