Oct. 30/31: Jesus LIVES WITH HUMILITY
Mark 9:33-35
Reformation Sunday
Saturday at 5:00 pm
Sunday at 8:00, 9:00, and 10:30 am
In the 1500's, a man by the name of Martin Luther posted 95 statements onto the front door of the church in Wittenburg, Germany. It was Professor Luther's way of advertising an upcoming discussion. This discussion was focused on what he believed were the injustices of the church. With the recent invention of the printing press, these 95 statements took off throughout Europe. The Protestant Reformation began. Two hundred years later, Methodism began through the ministry of John Wesley in England.
This weekend we will celebrate this time in history. We will also finish our sermon series, "To Be Like Jesus." This week we are taking a look at the humility of Jesus. One of the interesting aspects of humility is that we often associate it with weakness. Jesus lived humbly while becoming great. How did he do it? He was able to put aside his ego and to focus on mercy. We will look at some of those aspects of his life as we look at them in our lives as well.
I look forward to seeing you this weekend. Pastor Susan
