Celebration of Organist Larry Roou's Ministry
Twenty three and one half years ago, Larry Roou accepted the position of organist in our congregation. In that time he has played for numerous worship services including Sunday services, weddings and funerals, Christmas, Lent and so many more. He has formed new ministry groups in music, provided recitals and assisted in many ways to support our strong music ministry.
Aug 29 will be Larry's last Sunday with us. He will play the 8 and 10:30 am services. Special music will be added to the services to reflect some of the pieces that have been Larry's favorites through the years. Staff Parish and the Music Ministry area will host a reception for Larry after each of these services in the Jones Narthex.
We hope that you can join us this weekend to thank Larry for his ministry. If you would like to contribute toward a Love Gift for Larry, please send a check to the church and write "Larry" in the memo line.
A Search Team to fill the vacated organist position has been formed and will begin meeting. The position description can be found on the website. Substitute organists will provide service music beginning Labor Day weekend until a new organist is named.

Jar Alert
The next time you empty a jar wash it out and bring it to church. Many jars, of all shapes, colors, and sizes, are needed for World Communion Weekend, October 2 & 3. Clean jars are needed no later than Sunday, September 26. Contact Mary Paull at mpaull@wi.rr.com with questions.
In July, the Rev. Dr. Don Francis preached during the Lord's Prayer series. The weekend he preached, the topic was "Give us this day our daily bread". In the sermon, Don spoke of "Our Daily Bread Jar." Our Daily Bread Jar is a jar we take to give a portion of our income for those in need.
During World Communion Weekend we will lift up our mission focus of "Feed My Starving Children" and distribute Daily Bread Jars. We will encourage families to set aside income over two weeks to feed hungry children physically and spiritually around the world. It costs 17 cents to provide a meal for a child.
Thank you everyone. |
