Isn't October a great month!?

We are loving life here on the farm as the views of trees in the distance are showing the first hints of color and the mornings feel breezy and crisp.  We also love fall for the vegetables the season offers.

Fortunately, we've had lovely weather the last few weeks and while rain has been less than abundant, the cool days have been kind to our fall crops.  We're excited to be harvesting lots of beautiful produce as well as planting plenty for fall and winter abundance in the future.

We encourage you to make it to one of our last three Serenbe Farmers and Artists Markets on the 16th, 23rd, or 30th.  We've got so much fun stuff going on, there is something for everyone!
Hope to see you here!
Fall and Halloween Serenbe Farmers and Artists Markets--

Check your calendars.  Block out a few hours to spend at the Serenbe Market on the 16th, 23rd, or 30th weekends!  These are not only our last three markets but they're going to be our most fun three markets of the season!

Find directions to our market here.

On October 16th (9 am until noon):

*enjoy a free farm tour of Serenbe Farms led by seasoned apprentice Gretchen Weiher (meet at the farm at 9:30 am)
*visit the Toyota hybrid show cars on our market green to learn more about hybrid technology
*shop at our numerous regular vendors, and be sure to check out our newest vendor Skip and his awesome Halloween yard art made from recycled materials!
*visit our Serenbe Farms market stand to get the best of the summer AND the best of the fall.  Our fall tomatoes are starting to come in strong (and beautiful again) and the other summer fruits and veggies just won't quit!  We'll have a diverse offering at our farmstand.

GROW! a documentary encouraging more young farmers needs your help!

GROW!
Rally the forces and get excited about a great new documentary coming soon!  Our good friends and talented photographers and filmmakers are putting together a fantastic film called GROW!  This movie will highlight young Georgia farmers and track our successes, struggles, and more importantly how we enjoy farming as an enriching livelihood.  Christine and Owen (like many of us) believe in keeping food local and hope that in the future generations we grow many more farmers.

The filmmakers have logged over 4,000 miles and paid for all of their production expenses thus far out of pocket.  We ask that you will take a gander at their newest fundraising effort, a donation push on Kickstarter.com.  View the newest trailer for the film and donate any amount over $5 here.  GROW! movie needs to raise over $10,000 in 30 days to make these donations happen and we only have 16 days left!  Help grow more farmers and contribute to the fund.

Check out their Kickstarter donation page and the new trailer here.

Visit the GROW! movie blog here.

Serenbe Farms "Warm Up" Trail Run

Join us on October 23rd at 9:30am at the Serenbe Market for a lovely fall trail run.  Whether you'd like to warm up for the Hill Country Trail Race (5K or 15K) or you'd just like to go for a nice run with a group of folks, you'll be right at home in our beautiful forests and pastures.

 the warm up

When: October 23rd, 9:30 pm

Where: Serenbe community (find directions here).  Run will begin at the market green (near 9110 Selborne Lane, Chattahoochee Hills, GA).

Parking: Please follow signs to our shaded market parking lot.

Distance: Choose between a 3 and a 5 mile course.  The course is different than the Hill Country 15K so expect some new and exciting scenery (and even run through the organic farm)!

Difficulty: The trails of Serenbe include nice and rolling hills.  The terrain is all packed double track trail with a few washed out and rocky areas.

Navigation: We plan to hand out maps of the course as well as use signage at intersections.

Why you need to participate in this event: to enjoy the beautiful fall weather and changing leaves, to hang out at our fantastic fall festival farmers market, to get some exercise then eat delicious brunch at the Hil or the Blue Eyed Daisy Bakeshop, to give your family time to stroll the shops, to purchase delicious organic vegetables and eggs to take home with you, to do some early holiday shopping from our arts and crafts vendors, to have fun!

Cost: this event is free!  But, the fall festival benefits the Children's House of Serenbe, AND our favorite filmmakers Christine and Owen Anthony-Masterson will be collecting donations and selling cookbooks to benefit their new movie GROW! highlighting young farmers in Georgia.
