Volunteer Northwest Mississippi has a new way for you to become a volunteer. Recently, we added a new resource to our Volunteer Center website. Now non-profits have the capability to advertise volunteer opportunities through our online database. Also, volunteers can create accounts to view volunteer opportunities.  We continue to uphold our mission "Connecting People who Care with Causes that Matter."

Please visit www.volunteernwms.org to become an active volunteer in our community.

Lekeathia Johnson
 Making A Difference in her
Community

Lekeathia embodies the word "volunteer" in every sense of the word. She has been active in the communities of Webb, Sumner, and Tutwiler in Tallahatchie County ever since she was a teenager. Lekeathia is a alumna of the AmeriCorps program; in three years, she has logged more than 2,000 hours of community service. Among the projects she has spearheaded and oveLekethiarseen was a beautification project at R.H. Bearden Elementary School in Sumner, several health and wellness projects, including an exercise program and two health fairs, and the implementation of a community garden in western Tallahatchie County. In addition, Lekeathia is the co-coordinator of the youth department at Frierson Chapel M.B. Church in Brazil, MS, where she is responsible for developing educational and religious programs for children and teenagers. These accomplishments only have scratched the surface of what Lekeathia has and is capable of doing, and there will be much more to come from her.

Thanks Lekeathia for making a difference in our community.
