The Clothesline Project: Bearing Witness to Violence Against Women

A Visual Display Offered by New Hope, Inc.

A Gallery in the Window Exhibition hosted by the Attleboro Arts Museum. On view in the Park Street windows of the Museum from  April 6 - April 14, 2011.

The Clothesline Project uses custom-made shirts to symbolically reflect a woman's personal experience as a survivor or victim of violence. Each shirt is decorated to represent a particular individual's experience, either by the survivor themselves or by someone who cares about them.

The Clothesline Project:
- Bears witness to survivors and the victims of domestic and sexual violence in our community
- Acts as a healing process for both people who are themselves survivors as well as for those who have lost a loved one to this destructive behavior
- Educates, documents, and raises society's awareness of the extent of the problem of domestic and sexual violence in our community
