~In the United States, the cost of intimate partner violence exceeds $5.8 billion each year, $4.1 billion of which is for direct medical and mental health services.
~43,000 children were exposed to domestic violence in Massachusetts over a one year period. That is nearly 120 children a day.
~Already in 2010, there have been 24 murders and 10 suicides that were domestic violence-related in Massachusetts.
~Nearly 3 out of 4 (74%) Americans personally know someone who is or has been a victim of domestic violence.
~56% of victims of domestic violence report late to work because of job interference tactics used by their batterers.

MA Women of Today: Women of Today chapters from Bellingham, Easton, Mansfield & Norton raffled an autographed Bruins hockey stick to benefit our agency.
Personal Best Karate: Personal Best Karate, based in Norton, has been providing ongoing monthly self-defense classes to benefit New Hope. We are so appreciative to Personal Best Karate for its ongoing support!
Seekonk/Rehoboth Mom's Club: New Hope thanks this local Mom's Club for a recent monetary donation to our Southeast Shelter.
Temple Chayai Shalom: New Hope thanks Temple Chayai Shalom of Easton for its recent donation of 75 gift bags filled with toiletries for our clients!
United Way of Webster Dudley: New Hope thanks the United Way of Webster Dudley for its recent Day of Caring, in which volunteers assisted New Hope with wrapping boxes for our agency's "Drive for Five, and distributed the boxes, posters & informational materials to local businesses in the Webster-Dudley area. New Hope thanks the United Way and all Day of Caring volunteers who helped us with this project!
Vantel Pearls in the Oyster: Vantel Pearls in the Oyster, based in Foxboro, invited New Hope to speak and receive a donation at their national convention held in Mansfield. This generous donation resulted from national sales of the company's "Ribbon of Hope" necklace, to benefit New Hope, Inc. and domestic violence causes. We are so grateful for Vantel Pearls' friendship and ongoing support of our agency and our mission!
Worcester State College: Proceeds of a performance of "The Vagina Monologues" at Worcester State College were generously donated to New Hope. Our agency was also pleased to participate and offer information and resources during this event!
We would also like to thank all of the countless individuals, companies and groups who have donated cell phones toward New Hope's "Drive for Five", assisting us in our goal of collecting 5,000 used cell phones by June 30th. October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month! (DVAM)Since 1987, our nation has recognized October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month in an effort to increase the public's awareness about domestic violence and to encourage communities to support survivors, their families and the individuals and agencies that provide domestic violence services throughout the year.
For 22 years, our community has come together during DVAM to take a stand against an issue that affects thousands of individuals each year regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation or socioeconomic status.
It's time to stop domestic violence!
We invite you to join us at any of our community events happening throughout the month. Below is a list of where we will be and what will be doing. We look forward to "ending domesic violence in our community" ~ together!
October 12-15, 2010 "Derailing Domestic Violence" Train Blitz New Hope staff and volunteers will be stationed at 8 commuter rail locations (during the morning commute) throughout the week, passing out New Hope informational materials to raise awareness: ~ Attleboro Station ~ Forge Park/495 Station ~ Grafton Station ~ Mansfield Station ~ Middleboro/Lakeville Station ~ Norfolk Station ~ Norwood Central Station ~ Walpole Station
October 13, 2010 Domestic Violence Community Awareness Panel New Hope will be partnering with Brigham and Women's/Mass General Health Care Center for a panel discussion about Domestic Violence that will be open to the community. October 16, 2010 HUGS Walk/New Hope's Clothesline Project New Hope will display its Clothesline Project, a moving display of t-shirts depicting the emotions and experiences of domestic violence and sexual assault survivors. Ahern Middle School Foxboro, MA

October 19, 2010 Speech by Denise Brown, sister of Nicole Brown-Simpson New Hope will be joining the Tri-Town Domestic Violence Task Force for a speech presented by Denise Brown. October 19, 2010 Domestic Violence Awareness Day New Hope will be partnering with Harrington Hospital in Southbridge for a Domestic Violence awareness day at the hospital. October 31, 2010 Domestic Violence and Faith Awareness Day New Hope will be partnering with the People of Faith Against Domestic Violence for a Domestic Violence awareness day at a local church in the Uxbridge area. 21st Annual Gourmet Guys Event
of the year!
Join us as over 60 local "Gourmet Guys" prepare their specialty dishes and serve them at the event to friends, family and other members of the community who have come out to support New Hope! Participants need not be professional chefs - at Gourmet Guys, our "chefs" include lawyers, firefighters, numerous other professions, and yes, some professional chefs too!

New Hope Has A New Taunton Office!
We have moved our Taunton office from 39 Taunton Green to a new location at 18 Broadway, Suite 210.
The new office will provide a safe, welcoming and responsive environment for all New Hope, Inc. clients and will house New Hope's Counseling Services, SAFEPLAN, Transitional Living Program and RESPECT programs.
New Hope, Inc. would like to thank Gallo Moving & Storage of Milford, MA for assisting with our move, and for making our Taunton office transition a smooth and seamless one!
