On Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Up2Us challenged coaches and athletes to make a positive impact on their community through service. Up2Us tipped off the Martin Luther King holiday weekend by partnering with Chainlink Fundamentals and Nike to host the "Leave Your Mark Challenge", a free interactive basketball clinic held at Columbia University for more that 150 youngsters who were also asked to commit to doing service learning projects of their own design to affect positive change in their local communities. The Global Gear Drive is a program that was established by the International Alliance for Youth Sports to put sports equipment in the hands of children living in developing regions around the world that wish to take part in quality sports activities but are unable to due to shortages of equipment and the lack of facilities in their countries.
