sharon with bruce cut Greetings!

Welcome to our premiere issue of the Kingdom Connection!

This newsletter came out of a need and desire to communicate to our ministry partners to keep them abreast of what's happening at Oasis and how we as a Christian Community can continue the work that Jesus left for us to do, which is taking care of the "least of these".

Each issue will highlight one or two of our partners and the unique ways in which they are contributing to our work here on the front lines. We will also demonstrate through testimonials from our clients, how your contribution is having an impact on their lives.

We believe that we are the eyes, hands and smile of Jesus to a spiritually and in many cases physically deprived community. If you are not currently an active partner we hope that through this medium you will become informed and encouraged to become a part of what I like to call, the Kingdom Community!

Click on the highlighted link to see how God is working through our young people in the community. Both of the kids mentioned in this article attend partner churches.  Kids Making a Difference.

May you remain blessed as God continues to prosper the work of your own ministries!

dream makeover Mission Impossible 3! launch date August 2009!

At our last Pastors Roundtable in June, Pastor Don Imel, shown seated beside me, gave us a very uplifting talk about how important it is as a church to become involved in the community. He gave us the story about a previous experience he had at another church which did not have much favor with the local officials, until the church demonstrated its good works and relevance by assisting a school which was in great need of repairs. The project became an all out church wide involvement and the church reaped great rewards and good will in the community as a result.

Community Christian Church, where Don Imel is the pastor, will be kicking off their twice a year food drive which they dub Mission Impossible. Their goal for August is 5000 pounds. The last food drive had a goal of 3000 pounds which they exceeded. They choose to set the goals high because it allows their congregation to stretch their faith as well.

Community Christian Church also sponsors the Angels For Oasis program which distributes boxes of food including meats to 10 graduating families of Oasis each month. Thank you CCC!

Pastor HawkinsChurches take up Special Offerings to assist Oasis during difficult Summer Months!

Oasis sincerely thanks Palm Beach Baptist Church and Boynton Beach Community Church for taking up a special offering during one of their Sunday Services to assist Oasis.

We are also looking forward to VBS week at Lake Worth Christian Reformed church with Pastor Tom Dykstra and his crew. The VBS collection that week, both funds and food will be donated to Oasis.

Like many non profits and ministries, Oasis is experiencing a difficult summer, as resources run low and needs are at an all time high. God continues to remain faithful to us and we are greatly encouraged!

We sincerely appreciate Pastor John Hawkins of PBBC (shown in cream shirt in this picture) and Pastor Dudley Hodges of BBCC (back shown in this picture) and Pastor Tom Dykstra, for their generous gifts from their church members. Your gifts not only helped with expenses, but it also encouraging to our team of workers.

Our Career Center offers many opportunities for clients to get on their feet. We have a job counselor, Tonya Meese who meets with several clients each week to assist with resume writing, job preparation and job search. Tonya works very closely with Greyni Reynoso, our intake counselor, to ensure that the goals that we set for our clients are followed upon.

Oasis believes in giving people a hand up, not a hand out.

Sharon and Pastor HimelSave the Date for October 24th at Kravis Center!

Please plan to attend our upcoming fundraiser at the Kravis Center on Saturday, October 24th.

Democratic State Senator, Dave Aronberg and Republican State Senator, Jeff Atwater will be the honorary co-chairs for this year's event. Oasis believes in partnerships and teamwork, especially with our state officials and we are thrilled to have both of these senators as part of our fundraising celebration. We believe that perhaps in some way, our mission and the way we conduct ourselves, may have some impact on our governing authorities.

We will be giving out 4 Compassionate Spirit Awards, last year one of our chcurch partners, Boynton Beach Community Church won the In-Kind Giving award. Please plan to support us. Tickets are $150.00 per person. Catering is done by the Breakers Hotel. Please click on the link for more information. Gala Latest News
