Greetings!
Spring break was last week. I hope you had a great time. I did. We did a staycation this time. I took my niece and nephews to Turner Field for the Braves Opening Day Game. It was very exciting with the Braves beating the Chicago Cubs 16 - 5. We visited the Georgia Aquarium, World of Coca-Cola and Stone Mountain. There are so many great things to see and do right here at home.
I have been updating our website at www.alancoxautomotive.com. I hope you visit often for updates and specials. Please let me know if you have any suggestions or ideas for the website or newsletter.
Remember we are here for you. Let us know when we can be of assistance to you and your family.
With Gratitude,
Sherry Richardson
P.S. Remember to schedule a mini service every 3,000 miles which includes an oil and filter change.
P.P.S. Follow us on Facebook and Twitter.

Is Your Car Ready for a Road Trip?
Deep down, you know your car should be checked out before hitting the road for a vacation. With so many other things to do, it is easy to put it off. Bad idea, says the Car Care Council, especially when you realize that in as little as 10 minutes, you can determine if your car is ready for long-distance travel.
The 10 minute pre-trip check up recommended by the council includes the following:
- Check all fluids, including engine oil, power steering, brake and transmission as well as windshield washer solvent and antifreeze/coolant.
- Check the hoses and belts that can become cracked, brittle, frayed, loose or show signs of excessive wear. These are critical to the proper functioning of the electrical system, air conditioning, power steering and the cooling system.
- Check the tires, including tire pressure and tread. Uneven wear indicates a need for wheel alignment. Tires should be checked for bulges and bald spots.
"In a very short amount of time, motorists can identify how road-ready their vehicle is and then take steps to have the problems fixed before heading out for vacation," said Rich White, executive director, Car Care Council. "It's a small sacrifice compared to the inconvenience and potential safety hazards of breaking down many miles away from home. Plus, if repairs or maintenance are needed, they can be done by a repair shop that knows you and your vehicle."
The council also recommends that wipers and interior and exterior lighting on the vehicle be checked prior to a road trip, and that motorists restock their emergency kit. As a rule of thumb, windshield wipers should be replaced every six months and lighting should be checked monthly.
To save on fuel costs during the trip, the council suggests that motorists avoid aggressive driving, observe the speed limit and avoid excessive idling. Gas caps that are damaged, loose or missing should be replaced to prevent gas from spelling or evaporating.

Outdoor Burning Ban Returns in May

The Georgia Department of Natural Resources has issued a ban on open burning through September 30. Fifty-four Georgia counties are affected. Maintanence Is Less Expensive than Repairs
During these difficult economic times it is more important than ever to keep your vehicle well-maintained.
- Change the oil regularly - every 3,000 miles - have all fluid levels checked.
- Repair and replace brakes when needed - Safety comes first.
- Replace tires when needed. Tires keep your vehicle on the road.
Remember: Maintenance cost less than repairs. Maintenance can be scheduled. Repairs and breakdowns never happen at a convenient time. |
