Greetings!
August is here. School is in session. Where did the summer go? Labor Day is just around the corner. I hope you had a chance to enjoy some time off this summer. Picnics and trips to the beach are always a great way to enjoy family and friends.
Have a trip planned for Labor Day? Call and schedule an oil and filter change or mini service before you leave.
Drive Safely,
Sherry Richardson
P.S. As a thank you for your continued support, I have extended the warranty on vehicle service to 18 months or 18,000 miles instead of the industry standard of 12 months or 12,000 miles. Your repeat business and referrals are greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Two Important Facts Every Motorist Should Understand Car Care Council stresses two important facts every motorist should understand.
First, vehicle repairs cost an average 34 percent more at new car dealerships than at independent repair shops, according to the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association (AAIA).
Second, customers are protected by the Magnuson-Moss Act that prohibits a manufacturer from voiding the vehicle warranty because service was performed by a non-dealer.
In other words, the vehicle manufacturer can not void your warranty because you had service performed by an independent repair shop. More and more new car buyers are being told they have to have their vehicle serviced by the dealer. This is not true. It is Your Car, Your Choice.

National Stop on Red Week
August 2-8, 2009 is National Stop on Red Week, created by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) to educate the public about the dangers of red-light running and to promote safe driving habits.
Facts about the dangers of red-light running:
- In 2007, red-light running led to 154,000 injuries and more than 900 deaths across the United States (source: Insurance Institute for Highway Safety - IIHS).
- 96 percent of drivers are afraid of being hit by a red-light runner, yet nearly 56 percent of Americans admit to running red lights (Old Dominion University, Virginia).
- Motorists are more likely to be injured in crashes involving red-light running than in other types of crashes (FHWA).
- Occupant injuries occur in 45 percent of red-light running crashes, compared with 30 percent of other crash types (IIHS).
- A nationwide study of fatal crashes at traffic signals estimates that 20 percent of the drivers involved failed to obey the signals (IIHS).
- 40 percent of all crashes are intersection related (FHWA).
- The number of fatal motor vehicle crashes at traffic signals is rising faster nationwide than any other type of fatal crash (FHWA).
- Red-light camera programs are a proven law enforcement tool that save lives and make roadways safer. Among the many studies proving the success of red-light cameras, the IIHS states that they reduce violations by 40-50 percent and crashes by 30 percent.

Are You Using Your Cell Phone or Texting While Driving?
This is a very serious threat to your safety and a major concern for all drivers. You see the person in front of you bobbing and weaving only to realize the driver is on the cell phone. For your safety and the safety of others do not answer your phone while driving. If you have to take a call pull over to the side of the road or into a parking lot.
Ask yourself: Is that phone call more important than my safety or the safety of another human being? Only you can answer that question.
Remember: Maintenance cost less than repairs. Maintenance can be scheduled. Repairs and breakdowns never happen at a convenient time.
A well-maintained vehicle is a dependable vehicle. |

Drive safely, Sherry Richardson Alan Cox Automotive
