What Are We Doing?

Transportation-08/19:
  • 2010-2013 STIP is now online for public comment. Alaska Class ferry funding currently in STIP, support DOT in keeping it there.
  • Kake-Petersburg road on hold until additional funding can be found.
  • Prince Rupert Container Port Working Group still seeking funding for a feasibility study.
  • IFA seeking support in being included in the State Transportation budget, cut clearing up the misconception that they are a private entity has been a major hurtle. IFA is a municipal subdivision, a public transportation entity.
  • Updates from: DOT-AMHS, and MTAB.

Energy-08/03:
  • Unanimous approval of the D. Hittle & Associates' Kake-Petersburg Intertie Study. Comments will still be accepted as the project continues. Next meeting we'll discuss the next steps for permitting.
  • House & Senate Energy Committees will hold public hearings to receive input on the State's Energy Plan and energy legislation HB 218 & HB 219.
  • Update on Metlakatla Power & Light's Walden Point to Ketchikan project, funding from AEA will allow this to continue. An action plan with updated costs will be out in August.

Upcoming Committee Meetings

  • Wednesday, September 16th: Committee Break-Out Meetings in Haines during the Annual Meeting.
