ARMY COPRS OF ENGINEERS REACTIVATES PERMIT AT COEUR'S KENSINGTON GOLD MINE, CLEARING WAY FOR EXPECTED 2010 PRODUCTION START
COEUR
D'ALENE, Idaho - August 17, 2009 - Coeur d'Alene Mines Corporation (NYSE:CDE,
TSX:CDM, ASX:CXC) today announced that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has
reactivated the 404 permit for Coeur's Kensington Gold Mine located 40 miles
northwest of Juneau, Alaska. With approximately 90% of the mine already
complete, the Company will immediately begin to finalize construction of the
remaining areas of the operation.

is an extensive list of groups and individuals to thank for their efforts and
continued support of Kensington. The Company looks forward to getting back to
accomplishing the main objective, which is to construct and operate a
world-class gold mine that all stakeholders will be proud of," said Dennis E.
Wheeler, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Coeur. "Kensington
represents Coeur's third new mine in the past two years. This transformation to
these large, long-life mines will continue to provide shareholders with further
growth in production and cash flow."

Woody Biomass Project Highlighted in Forestry Notes
In the August 2009 issue of Forestry Notes the successful efforts of BURN-UP (the Biomass Utilization and Restoration Network for the Upper Peninsula) were highlighted. BURN-UP is a coalition that aims to stimulate the development of a sustainable woody biomass industry in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Recently awarded the NRCS's Two Chiefs' Partnership Award recognizing outstanding partnerships in forest conservation work. What Are We Doing?
Transportation-08/19:
- 2010-2013 STIP is now online for public comment. Alaska Class ferry funding currently in STIP, support DOT in keeping it there.
- Kake-Petersburg road on hold until additional funding can be found.
- Prince Rupert Container Port Working Group still seeking funding for a feasibility study.
- IFA seeking support in being included in the State Transportation budget, cut clearing up the misconception that they are a private entity has been a major hurtle. IFA is a municipal subdivision, a public transportation entity.
- Updates from: DOT-AMHS, and MTAB.
Energy-08/03:
- Unanimous approval of the D. Hittle & Associates' Kake-Petersburg Intertie Study. Comments will still be accepted as the project continues. Next meeting we'll discuss the next steps for permitting.
- House & Senate Energy Committees will hold public hearings to receive input on the State's Energy Plan and energy legislation HB 218 & HB 219.
- Update on Metlakatla Power & Light's Walden Point to Ketchikan project, funding from AEA will allow this to continue. An action plan with updated costs will be out in August.
