When is a 153lb Halibut a Small Fish?
When is a 192-pound brute just second best?
The answer,
when your buddy catches a 379-pound monster.
That's exactly what
happened this week at the Cove Lodge.
Dorothy and Chad boated
fish-of-a-lifetime but had to settle for runner-up to Bill's monster.
What a day!!! The halibut fishing has been exceptional this season.
While the king salmon
fishing has been spotty in most of Alaska we've managed to tame some
very impressive fish. Matt Eastman, host of ESPN's "Wanna Go Fishing?",
gets the grins going with guest Ben Wei and his 40-pound king salmon.
The fight was a classic and every spectacular run was captured on
camera. Stay tuned, the show is set to air in April. We will announce
the exact air date when the date is determined.
We still have a few spaces
remaining in July and August. Don't miss out on the great adventures at
the Cove Lodge. We will be offering a discount on several of the
remaining dates. Call us today for details at: 800-382-3847.
Now is the time to book
your trip for the 2009 season. Book your 2009 visit before July 31 and
lock in 2008 prices. Like everything else, our rates will be going up
in 2009. Beat the price increase by booking your trip today.

Alaska Statehood Experience Projects
Humanities Forum,
Rasmuson Foundation award $900,000 to Alaska Statehood Experience
projects
A community mural in Seward, a poetry performance in Juneau, a
film shot by Kotzebue youth, and a new Atlas of our state are just some of the
ways Alaskans are getting involved with activities that explore, debate and
commemorate Alaska's 50th anniversary of statehood with support from the Alaska
Statehood Experience project. Alaska Humanities Forum and Rasmuson Foundation
today announced the award of $921,284 to 28 projects across the state that not
only delve into the history of Alaska statehood, but also examine its meaning as
we look ahead to the next 50 years.
"The Alaska Humanities Forum was thrilled to receive
high-quality proposals for Alaska's Statehood Experience -- and from every
region and across such diverse groups," said Dr. Greg Kimura, president and CEO
of the Alaska Humanities Forum. "These projects will create an historical legacy
that will outlast the 50th anniversary, enriching generations of Alaskans to
come."
Rasmuson Foundation President Diane Kaplan added, "Alaskans
have great stories to tell about the place they live and the life they love.
Each of these projects elicits and shares those stories, and creates a living
narrative that we can continue to write as we progress into the second 50
years."
