New Caney Athletic Booster Club to sell Texas Bowl tickets as fundraiser!

Recently the Texas Bowl introduced its new High School Booster Club Fundraiser Program. The New Caney Athletic Booster Club (NCABC) became the first organization to sign up for the program.

The program is designed to raise money for schools' booster clubs while also deepening the Texas Bowl's ties to the local community. NCABC has access to tickets, which we are selling as a means of raising money for our  school's athletic program. Tickets will range in price from $30 to $50.

By joining the fundraising program and becoming a partner of the Texas Bowl, NCABC will receive passes for their coaching staff to attend a Texas Bowl team practice, a question-and-answer session with a member of the Houston Texans coaching staff, passes to the Texas Bowl Coaches' Luncheon and FCA Breakfast, 2009 Texas Bowl gear and recognition in the 2009 Texas Bowl Program.

We are competing against other Houston area schools for bragging rights as the top fundraising school of 2009. The school that raises the most money will receive 60 pregame sideline passes to the Texas Bowl, 200 Texas Bowl t-shirts and on-field recognition of their accomplishments.

The game will be held December 31, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Reliant Stadium.  This years' game will tentatively be Navy and a Big 12 team.

Please let me know if you need any further information!

Thank you,

HUGE Garage Sale to benefit MCAS animals
You are invited to a HUGE Garage Sale
to benefit MCAS animals in need of medical treatment
Saturday 10/17/2009 10:00 am - 5:00 pm

Please be our guest... Becky Caywood with Texaco Tent and Sandra Hanson of FMCTAS are having a HUGE garage sale to benefit the Montgomery County Animal Shelter located on Highway 242 east of I-45.

Many of the animals are in need of medical treatment TODAY that the shelter is unable to perform in house. This is a fundraiser to help those animals in need. There is a waiting list of animals that need procedures and medical treatments, and the clock is ticking.

So, if you can stop by, browse, and buy a trinket or two -- you not only will be getting a bargain, but saving an animals life.

Should you have any questions, please contact Sandra Hanson @ HANSONSANDRA@HOTMAIL.COM or
(954) 336-3222.

WE HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE!

Conroe ISD Finance Park Needs Volunteers!

In a time when personal finance is such a timely and pertinent topic for all students, Conroe ISD is excited to be taking an opportunity to introduce this year's senior high students to 'real-life' experiences' through a purposeful but exciting participation in Finance Park.

Last May of 2009, approximately 450 seniors from all of the high schools in CISD visited Finance Park and to say it was a huge success is an understatement!  This is part of a thank you message from one of the teacher's whose students were involved with Finance Park:
"I just wanted to express our appreciation for the opportunity to participate in the Finance Park program.  Our kids enjoyed the event!  In fact, my seniors went on and on and on about it!  Several of them told me that they learned so much about personal finance.  And, of course, a few of them said they were either not having children or only having one child!  (they had to budget according to how many children they had.) Thanks again for this program."

During the student's visit to Finance Park, he/she will play the role of an adult with a specific salary and family scenario.  The student will be the sole provider for his/her family and will create a budget that accommodates the needs of the family without overspending.

To make this possible, WE NEED VOLUNTEERS!  Capital One Bank has agreed to provide 6 volunteers per day but we still need an additional 12 more each day.  What exactly does it entail to be a volunteer?  Below are all the details:

WHERE: Walter P. Jett Continuing Education Center
              601 W. Lewis Street
              Conroe, Texas 77301
(the old Sam Houston Elementary school campus)

WHEN:   Each school has been assigned to the following dates:
·         Monday, Oct. 26th - College Park High School
·         Tuesday, Oct. 27th - Caney Creek High School
·         Wednesday, Oct. 28th - The Woodlands High School
·         Thursday, Oct. 29th - Conroe High School
·         Friday, Oct. 30th  - Oak Ridge High School and Hauke High School

TRAINING:  Volunteers need to arrive at 8:00 a.m. on their scheduled date for training.  Volunteers will receive training for one hour and the students will arrive at 9:00.  Volunteers basically act as an on-site chaperone - nothing difficult at all! The students will be departing at 1:30.

LUNCH:  Pizza will be provided for the volunteers for lunch.

HOW DO I SIGN-UP?  Email me at JKnocke@JAHouston.org  and I will be able to answer all of your questions and get you scheduled for your preferred date.

As always, I appreciate the support all of you show our schools and any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated!  I truly believe you will have a rewarding experience if you choose to participate in this project!

Sincerely,

Judy Knocke
