Spring Break Travel Deals
Want to getaway this Spring Break, but worried about the economy? Popular tourist destinations are seeing huge declines in visitors, so it is no surprise they are offering fantastic deals to lure people away from home this Spring Break.
Las Vegas - It is no surprise that fewer visitors are trying their luck in Sin City these days. US Airways Vacations is promoting four-night, air-and-hotel packages to Las Vegas starting at $215 per person from Tampa. Hotels are cutting prices and adding perks as well. We've seen 35% discounted room rates and $59 weeknight specials. One of my favorites is the Getaway Package at the Las Vegas Hilton, which starts at $135 for two people, and includes a two night stay, six buffets (breakfast, lunch, or dinner), two entries to the Spa, and two welcome cocktails.
Puerto Rico - Want an island destination for your Spring Break? My pick is Puerto Rico. With great air deals, this English speaking country requires no passport and you don't have to worry about exchanging currency. I was there last year and had a great time hiking through the rainforest and enjoying the beautiful beaches. Casino fans will love it here as well. CheapCarribbean.com offers a great deal of 4 nights plus airfare at $399/person to stay at Wyndham Rio Mar Beach Resort & Spa.
Mexico - New air service, great deals on packages, and a favorable exchange rate make Mexico a bargain hunters' dream this spring. New and upcoming service puts Mexico within easy reach from more departure points around the U.S. and helps travelers maximize their vacation time. JetBlue offers daily service with airfare from $71 each way. A little research revealed big savings at Mexico hotels, such as 45% off rates and all-inclusive spring specials from $89.
Europe - Not as cheap as a road trip, but British Airways is offering amazing deals with their Europe Spring Sale. Offers to London $267 and Prague ($333) each way + 2 free nights at a 3- or 4-star hotel in your destination city. Other destination cities include Paris, Rome, Barcelona and Amsterdam. These offers, plus a favorable exchange rate, make a trip across the pond more enticing.
Orlando - Looking for family fun this Spring Break? Orlando is offering great value packages during their "Bundles of Free Smiles" campaign that runs through June. Many hotels offering buy 2 nights, get one free. Other offers include adult admission for price of kids, as well as many buy one get one free specials. Go to www.VisitOrlando.com for details on how you can get your Smile Card.

Getaway Girl Travel & Vacation Giveaways Coming Soon!
Due to an overwhelming amount of requests for Girls Getaway destinations, accommodations and activities, I will launch a new component to my current web site (www.GirlsGetawayGuide.net) in May for women searching for Girls Getaway travel information. The purpose of this new addition is to help women search for and book pre-packaged Girl Getaway and trips based on location and getaway experience.
Developing a "one-stop shop" for Girl Getaway trips will eliminate the hassle of conducting research and visiting multiple sites to determine the best getaway destination for a group and budget. In addition to the Travel Section, we are creating a section on the website for "Giveaways" due to the popularity of the Girls Getaway Guide's 12 Days 'til Christmas promotion.
Travel-related businesses will donate "prize giveaways" to be featured in this section of the website for a specified period of time and website visitors can "Enter to Win" the prizes of their choice. Stay tuned! Resorts, hotels, B&Bs and destinations interested in being included, please email Info@GirlsGetawayGuide.net.

For the past four years I have been going to Nashville for girls getaways and I always find something new to do. For this trip, Carly and I stayed with my friend Mandy, who lives in Nashville. Our first evening in town entailed dinner at Tom Black's house. Tom is considered the unofficial mayor of Nashville and is regarded internationally as a wine expert. As you can imagine, wine tasting with Tom is quite a treat, especially when you can explore his two never ending home wine cellars and select a wine from your birth year. I selected a Latour from 19?? and Mandy selected a Bordeaux from 19??. They were both wonderful!
Tom is very involved with Nashville charities and offers his wine expertise and home to help non profits raise money and awareness for important issues. During the trip, I found out that he donated dinner at his home with Martina McBride and her husband and Brooks & Dunn and their spouses that sold for $80,000 at a charity auction. We felt very privileged and honored to dine with Tom, and we want to thank him for our Valentine's Day mix CDs...I felt like I was in high school again.
Carly and I had so much fun during our Nash Trash tour with the Jugg Sisters (http://www.nashtrash.com/). These crazy "sisters" take guests on a 90-minute tour of downtown Nashville on their pink bus with zany performances and jokes galore! We laughed the entire time...even as the Juggs jokingly referred to us as the Travel Lesbians (not there is anything wrong with that).
Our next stop was the home of the Tennessee Titans, LP Field. We got the backstage, VIP tour of where the Titans magic happens...even their locker room and showers, which oddly fascinated us. It was cool to see where the owners sit and the VIP boxes for famous country music stars.
Our last tour included a stop at the Country Music Hall of Fame (http://www.countrynusichalloffame.com/) where are favorite memorabilia was Elvis' gold Cadillac and Faith Hill's dress from her VH1 Divas Live performance.
On Valentine's Day, I cooked breakfast (which is the only thing I can cook), made Bloody Jeri's (named after my mom) and gave the girls their V-Day gifts, then it was off to take in some shopping in the 12th South area. We visited Katy K Ranch Dressing (http://www.katyk.com/) for vintage western wear, Moda Boutique (http://www.modanashville/) for the latest fashion trends and Serendipity (http://www.serendipity12th.com/) for some funky finds. After the shopping, we went to Elan Skin & Laser Center (http://www.elannashville.com/) to take advantage of the 50% off facials. After facials, there was more shopping as we made our way over to the Hill Center at Green Hills and shopped at Posh Boutique (http://www.poshonline.com/) and Francesca's (http://www.francescascollections.com/).
After getting take out at Pei Wei (www.PeiWei.com), we headed home to get ready for our big Valentine's Day evening. We were very excited to see the Nashville Predators (http://predators.nhl.com/) take on the Boston Bruins in a hockey game at the Sommet Center. After all, nothing says "I love you" like a great hockey fight! We cheered, shouted and drank beer...just like a bunch of guys.
After the game, we made our way to Lower Broadway to the infamous "Honky Tonks." After a string of country songs, the band played Jimmy Buffett for the Florida girls and we felt like we were at home. Not to get too comfortable in one place, we made our way over to the Cadillac Ranch (http://www.cadillacranchnashville.com/) where I decided it would be a good idea to ride the mechanical bull. After 34 seconds of thrashing around and barely hanging on, I jumped off and ordered another drink.
The girls and I proved that you really can have a great Valentine's Day with those special girlfriends in your life.
Thank you to the ever-fabulous Mandy (pictured above in center) for a great Girls Getaway to Nashville!
