The Getaway Girl™ Hosts Sex and the City Movie Premiere Party

The Sex and the City pre-party and movie were absolutely fantastic!  We started the evening at Neiman Marcus Orlando where we were treated to cosmos, appetizers, makeup consultations, chocolate shoes, giveaways and prizes all while viewing Neiman Marcus' vast array of fabulous shoes.

We had a blast trying on shoes, getting made up and sipping the Sex and the City beverage of choice.  Many thanks to Bunny, Georgiana, Margaret, Michael (our very own Mr. Big), Katrina, Olga and the entire Neiman Marcus staff for hosting a superb party that is still receiving rave reviews.

"I had such a wonderful time! The party at Neiman's was so nice," said Michelle Smith. "I've been bragging about it all weekend."

After the pre-party, we made our way (some via limo) to Universal CityWalk AMC Cineplex, where we had our very own theater.  With cocktails in hand, we all sat back and enjoyed the highly-anticipated Sex and the City movie.  We laughed and cried, but were overjoyed to be reunited with Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte.  Many thanks to Aaron Swisher with AMC for all of his help in coordinating the theater arrangements.  We had one amazing Girls Night Out!

Acorn

"What a night! Thanks for the VIP Neiman Marcus hookup," said Angela Newell.   "The movie was everything and more.......yes, we got 'carried' away."

Casey Wohl & Travel Channel's Samantha Brown
I was thrilled to meet my favorite TV travel hostess Samantha Brown and Pat Younge, Travel Channel's President and General Manager, during their recent visit to Orlando. Samantha is best known for her work on several programs on the Travel Channel.
During a luncheon keynote address, Samantha said she is always asked how she landed "the best job in the world."

With a background in musical theater, she never dreamed she'd be a TV travel host. Turns out, in 1999, the Travel Channel was looking for a travel hostess, and Brown was chosen after a series of auditions. In her role as host, she introduces viewers to vacation destinations, hotels and vacation homes in the U.S. and around the world, and explores the locations and activities these destinations offer.  Be sure to tune in to see her upcoming series Weekend Getaways.  Who knows?  Maybe she will invite The Getaway Girl™ to be a guest one day!

Girls Getaway to the Hamptons

Having never visited the Hamptons, I was very excited about my recent getaway to celebrate Christina's 30th birthday. Celebrities, huge vacation homes, and summer beach parties are just a few of the things that come to mind when you envision a girls getaway to the Hamptons. The Hamptons refers specifically to the towns of Southampton and East Hampton on the South Fork, Suffolk County, NY on the east end of Long Island. This strip of Atlantic coast on Long Island's eastern end has long been a favorite summer escape for city residents.
After arriving in Southampton Friday evening, we headed to a bar/night club called DUNE (www.dunesouthampton.com). While very unsuspecting from the outside, the place was filled with people starting the holiday weekend. We had a great Girls Night Out (GNO) and quickly decided that what happens in the Hamptons, stays in the Hamptons!

The next morning, we took a taxi to the Southampton Village. We ate lunch at 75 Main (www.75main.com), along Main Street, and then browsed the shops along Main Street and Jobs Lane. This is a quaint shopping area with unique boutiques and outdoor seating at several restaurants. It's a great place to spend the day with your girlfriends.  We discovered a fabulous designer consignment store, Collette Consignment (www.colletteconsignment.com). She has several clothing and home decor consignment stores in Southampton, East Hampton, Sag Harbor, and Bridgehampton.

That night, we attended the Social Life Magazine party. There were several reality stars there, including Whitney Port from MTV's The Hills and Alex McCord from Bravo's The Real Housewives of New York City.

Champagne, martinis and delicious appetizers were served to the "Who's Who" of the Hamptons. We had a great time, especially when Liz borrowed Gerard's flute to play a tune for everyone there. Good times!
On Sunday, we ventured to Sunset Beach, which is located on Shelter Island. This is the hotspot to watch the amazing sunset on Sunday afternoons. Sunset Beach is an intimate, boutique hotel with only 20 rooms that shares the same owner as the Chateau Marmont. Adjacent to the hotel is the popular bar and outdoor restaurant, which is a great place to dine with a fantastic view.

We ended our trip with a late night party at the Pink Elephant's Southampton location (www.pinkelephantclub.com), another bar/night club.  This was our last celebration of both an unforgettable trip and Christina's 30th birthday!
