Happy New Year! As we say goodbye to 2007, I want to thank everyone who has supported me these past few months. The Girls Getaway Guide is doing so well, and I thank all of my friends, old and new, for their excitement and encouragement since the September launch.
2008 has already proven to be an exciting year, and I cannot wait to see what adventures await during the next few months.

The Getaway Girls December Event Recap
Urban Think! - I was honored to be asked by Urban Think! Bookstore to appear in person at their holiday book fair on Nov. 29. It was a wonderful event! They provided a great selection of books, gifts and lots of holiday cheer, including live Christmas music. This was especially exciting since this was my second time with Urban Think! in less than three months. My very first book signing was at Uran Think! in September, and it was such a success they report I am one of their top 20 bestselling authors. Many thanks to the Urban Think! staff for all of their hard work to make this event such a huge success.
Whiskey Parks in Tampa - Christmas was in the air at the Dec. 20 Whiskey Park Soho Christmas Party in Tampa. Given that it was Ladies Night, we had a great time. The Whiskey Park North event on Dec. 14 was another great time! In addition to my book signing, the Hillsborough Co. Firefighters were there to sign their 2008 calendar, so this event provided some great eye candy and friendly, helpful firemen. The WP staff was great, and we all had a good time visiting with friends and dancing
Gaylord Palm's ICE! - The Getaway Girl was frozen after spending the day at the Gaylord Palm's ICE! on Dec. 15. Despite the low temperatures, the event was amazing. If you have not seen ICE!, it is an incredible display of ice sculptures crafted into giant trains, nativity scenes, slides and much more. They even have an outdoor ice skating rink. Who says there is no snow in Florida? The Gaylord proves them wrong. A special thanks to Michelle Smith, public relations and marketing coordinator, for all her help in ensuring the success of this event.
Orlando Vintage - I was thrilled to do a book signing during the Orlando Vintage Clothing Company's holiday party on Dec. 13. I love this store and could spend hours looking at all the great vintage clothing. Owner Lisa Marie Smith is a wonderful hostess and has a terrific staff.
Blue Martini Orlando - The Blue Martini book signing on Dec. 12 was so much fun. It was a great holiday party with delicious food and, of course, great martinis. Everyone who purchased a book received a VIP pass, which entitled them to free drinks, first-in-line service, and much more. It was so good to see everyone enjoying the holiday season. Many thanks to Stephanie and the entire BM staff for their gracious hospitality.
The Getaway Girl is Now On GoGirlfriend.com
I am thrilled to announce another media outlet featuring my Getaway Girl expertise. I am now a feature contributor on the new women's travel website GoGirlfriend.com, a travel-based opinion site for women going places. Their goal is to inspire, connect and inform women travelers.
|NYC Will Never Be the Same! December Girls Getaway Trip
My friend Cathy and I had a great time during our recent Girls Getaway weekend in New York City. We had a terrific trip and, despite our short time there, managed to:
ˇ *Sport the new Girls Getaway "Leave Your Baggage at Home" tank tops in Times Square (see photo in next article)
ˇ *Appear on The Today Show, while in the crowd on the plaza
ˇ *Get the inside scoop on the Heisman Awards and attend an after party
ˇ * Visit Lucky Cheng's, my favorite drag queen bar, and hang out with the glamorous Annida Greenkard (pictured below)
ˇ *Walk more than 70 blocks in one day through the Meatpacking District, Chelsea and Greenwich Village
ˇ *Eat at wonderful places like Hamburger Heaven, Jack's, Grand Central Station's Oyster Bar, Bravo Pizza, Empire Diner, and the Hard Rock
ˇ *Enjoy some great Christmas shopping in fantastic boutiques, stores and even in Grand Central Station's Vanderbilt Hall
