Johannesburg, South Africa - April 6, 2012 - Andreas Derleth, Mr. Gay New Zealand wins the 2012 Mr. Gay World Sports Challenge presented by the worldOutgames Antwerp 2013 at the Fairway Hotel & Golf resort. The sports challenge combined team work through a "Survivor" inspired obstacle course which included a written exam on LGBT historical questions.
Top five individual sports challenge winners included:
#1 New Zealand - Andreas Derleth
#2 Australia - Benjamin Michael
#3 Finland - Jussi Laitinen
#4 Canada - Thomas Egli
#5 South Africa - Lance Weyer
Team Blue won the combine group challenge. Team members included: Bulgaria - Chavdar Arsov, Ethiopia - Robel Hailu, Hong Kong - Jimmy Wong, Mexico - Miguel Espinosa, and Netherlands - Thom Goderie.
A delegation of the worldOutgames Antwerp 2013 attended the Mr. Gay World 2012 sports challenge. Co-founder of the worldOutgames Antwerp 2013, Jerko Bozikovic, said "WorldOutgames Antwerp was proud to be the sponsor of the MGW sports day. Seeing team work, fun, and getting over cultural, physical and language barriers, was what this day was all about."
