Manila, Philippines - March 11th, 2011 - Mandaluyong City Mayor Benjamin De Castro Abalos, Jr. or "Benhur" officially welcomed the twenty three delegates and the board of directors of Mr. Gay World to his city. The mayor thanked the international delegation for taking the time to visit one of their community project at Unilab GK Village Arkong Bato in Brgy Kapitolyo. The mayor expressed his gratitude in being champions of gay human rights and shared that he also shared these values that all citizens have the right to love and respect regardless of sexual identity and sexual orientation. He continued to share with the delegation of his fight with the national government on a current piece of legislation that would effect access to condoms and other birth control items to their citizens. He feels this is dangerous especially considering the Philippines government's stance on access to HIV/AIDS medication. Then the mayor then presented the key to the city to the President of Mr. Gay World, Eric Butter, his board of directors and the delegates.
