Manila, Philippines - March 11th, 2011 - Mr. Gay World Day 3 Challenge took the twenty three international gay leaders along with the international press to visit one of Manila's slum restoration projects - Gawad Kalinga which means to "give care" in Filipino. Gawad Kalinga, is officially known as the Gawad Kalinga Community Development Foundation, a Philippine-based poverty alleviation and nation-building movement. Mr. Gay World donated supplies as well as their human resources to help renovate two of the project's community spaces - the library and a meeting/computer room. MGW also brought books, games and toys for the pre-school helping to make a better environment for the children that live in this community project in Unilab GK Village Arkong Bato in Brgy Kapitolyo, Pasig City, Philippines.

It was a very emotional and uplifting morning as the community came out to meet these young world leaders as they gave back to a local community in need. The young pre-schoolers presented Mr. Gay World delegation a beautiful concert presentation before receiving new coloring books, crayons and other story books, stickers and toys. Later the MGW delegates went to work in renovating two rooms in the project by laying down new flooring, building shelves for the library installing some lights and fans as well as window coverings. Later MGW handed out lunch to the community.
The grand finale of Mr. Gay World will be on Sunday, March 13th 8PM at Club Mwah! 3rd Floor, The Venue Tower, 652 Boni Avenue, Mandaluyong City (Manila), Philippines. The finale will be hosted by "the King of Talk," Boy Abunda, a popular Filipino television host that is openly gay and in a relationship with his partner of 25 years. He is a staunch supporter of gay rights and gay marriage. International judging panel includes 1969 Miss Universe - Gloria Diaz, Miss Philippines Universe 2002 - Karen Loren Agustin, Editor in Chief of DNA Magazine - Andrew Creagh, Publisher & founder of Winq and Mate Magazines - Remco Teppema, International Make Up Artist - Jorgen Landby, Mr. Gay World 2010 - Charl VanDenBerg, and President of Mr. Gay World - Eric Butter.
