The nationwide search for Mr. Gay Canada is set to take place September 24-27th, 2009.  Hosted in the sophisticated and relaxing urban oasis of Richmond, BC the mission of Mr. Gay Canada (MGC) is to advance national and international gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender (LGBT) civil rights through education and public performance.  MGC creates competition(s) to help identify authentic leaders who will take responsibility, not only in his own community but on a global stage, speaking out for equal rights by inspiring those around him.  MGC is an authentic and positive role model that will champion equality and diversity in the media both queer and mainstream and act as an LGBT Tourism Ambassador for Canada.

The Mr. Gay Canada Competition is a 3-day, indoor/outdoor series of events to help our judges identify a strong spokesman or ambassador to tell the world about our mission. The competition includes physical tests and interviews with a panel of judges.  85% of the grading system is targeted towards testing the leadership qualities in the delegate. The remaining 15% of the judging points are assigned to appearance and how well the delegate is to market as the face of MGC. The winner of the competition will receive an all expenses paid trip to Oslo, Norway, in February 2010, to represent Canada in the Mr. Gay World Competition.
"We are currently accepting applications from across the country, be it an organization submitting the person they see fit best, or the individual who takes upon themselves to apply via our website", says Executive Producer Terry Costa.
