Never Roam Alone Training
The Travelocity Never Roam Alone Guiding program had its first training day up on Whistler & Blackcomb last week. Everyone had a wicked time and loved riding the new Peak 2 Peak. We have an awesome team and they are very excited to show you the best of the mountains. Greetings from Whistler, ! This year there are so many events planned it would be nearly impossible to get to them all. From the many late nights of dancing and of course the Aprés Ski Parties but even more is the chance to try some new activities and the chance to meet new people.
Some of the events that are not to be missed are the end of the week Mr. Gay World Grand Finale! It is only $20 CAD and it will be hosted by Canada's own Out Olympic Gold Medallist Mark Tewksbury - and it is a chance to see the 24 amazing men from around the world. You can also get a good look at them at the United Colors of WinterPRIDE Fashion show, hosted by Canadian Actor Charlie David from Dante's Cove and check out some of the hottest new Fashion from Priape on Thursday for only $40. Both of these events have a limited number of seats so remember to book early. Being a big fan of Jo Weil and Thore Schölermann, the actors who play Oliver and Christian on Germany's ARD television series, "Verbotene Liebe" I plan to attend both events as they are going to be there too. Their show, which I learned about and watched via youtube, is a story which would touch the romantic heart strings of any gay man. And remember there is a whole line up for women's events on the WinterPRIDE Women Events Calendar. Last year, Out Travler declared WinterPride to be the most lesbian-friendly Gay Ski Week in the world. This year will be even better! Working with our good friends Lipstick & Dipstick - Lesbian relationship icons as well as the incredible party makers of Mandy & Leigh from Fly Girl - you know the resort is going to rock! Shred Betties is the Saturday Gurrl party at the GLC and this is one event you will not want to miss!
Other events not to miss this year are:
On Sunday the 1st of February the Fire & Ice Welcome Show - Who can resist fireworks and a fire spinner - especially when snowflakes fill the air? Everyone can enjoy watching skiers and snowboarders jump through the dazzling Ring of Fire every Sunday at 7PM at the base of Whistler Village Gondola.
Throughout the week you can try the ZipTrek EcoTours where you can fly like Indiana Jones as you race through Old and New growth Rainforest on the "Bear" tour on a series of Zip Lines.
Of course for the die hard Peter Pan types we have the Inner Tube Party at the Coca Cola Inner Tube Park on Blackcomb Mountain. For sliders and non-sliders alike! Swoop down the slopes on an inflatable tube, go with your friends or on your own. This is a safe and fun way to be part of the on-hill experience for those who don't ride or ski, and is guaranteed to be fun for all!
If you like to laugh then don't forget the Queerly Canadian Comedy Show on Wednesday. Last year the comedy show was sold out by Sunday night - so book early!
Try something new with the chance to go dog sledding, snowshoe or go on an escorted snowmobile trip. They have been scheduled a few times during the week (and I am told that Jo and Thore will likely be on the Saturday the 7th Snowmobile tour).
For women they have the Women's World Bobsled Competition being held at the Whistler Sliding Centre on Thursday the 5th and Saturday the 7th.
And for those men who want to meet Mr. Right! There is Singles & Sex Food a social mixer where sexy food preparation combine with single men. It will be held twice during the week on both Monday and on Friday, this is also a very popular event with only a limited number of spots.
