Whistler, BC - The Resort Municipality of Whistler brings out the rainbow flags on Village Gate Boulevard (the main entrance into Whistler) and around the Fairmont Chateau Whistler on Blackcomb Way. In anticipation to the Mr Gay Canada delegation's arrival, the flags were visibly displayed around the village, one week prior to the event.
The producers of Mr Gay Canada wish to extend thanks to the entire Whistler Village for the support of the national event. "It is great to see a community come together behind such a great event. It will be a fun weekend that I am anxiously looking towards", says Terry Costa, who partnered with local Whistler producer Dean Nelson to bring the grandiose event to the Village. "As a long time resident of Whistler I am so proud at how the community has supported this event. The values of the resort are similar to our own which are of respect, being authentic, caring and being a leader on a global stage" added Nelson.

The delegation will be staying in the award winning facilities of the Fairmont Chateau Whistler and will take in an Eco Challenge provided by the Whistler Coast Mountain Guides. Special photo shoots will occur at Lost Lake and Whistler Mountain. The delegation will savor some of the best culinary Whistler has to offer with visits to the #1 Chef in Canada at the world renowned BearFoot Bistro, 21 Steps, Elements Urban Tapas Parlour, Gone Village Eatery, Monk's Grill, and Southside Diner.
The first nationwide search for Mr. Gay Canada takes off Thursday, September 18th in Vancouver with a dinner at Oasis Restaurant, in the heart of the gay community. The opening celebration is at Vancouver's largest gay club, Celebrities Nightclub, at 10:30pm Thursday night. The delegation moves to Whistler for the weekend September 19th to 21st. Hosted in the idyllic mountain resort of Whistler, BC, the primary purpose of the Mr. Gay Canada (MGC) is to identify leaders who will take responsibility not only in his own community but also on a global stage speaking out for equal rights. Mr. Gay Canada is a positive role model and will work on humanizing being gay and act as an LGBT Tourism Ambassador for Canada.
Amidst the fun, energetic and educative tasks, the judges will announce who is the 2008-2009 Mr. Gay Canada on Saturday night, September 20th at Maxx Fish. All are invited to join for this evening celebration.
