What Have You Committed To?

Here we are, whipping through February like a fully stoked locomotive. Do you remember back to the beginning of the year when you first considered different resolutions?  What happened? Did you do it?  One thing that keeps us from accomplishing what we want is our lack of commitment.  I'm not talking about halfhearted wishes or flashes of enlightenment that seem great in the moment. These are often quick in creation, short on longevity, and lack the passion of a long held desire.   I'm talking about making changes you have considered for some time, and you know now is the time!

Commitment allows you to do things you ordinarily would shy away from, or give up on. Commitment is the absolute resolution to accomplish something, no matter what.  So I ask, what are you committed to?

Today I am publicly committing to lose 10 pounds between today and April 9th, and I'm asking for your help.

Why is this important? Years ago, I realized that in order for me to expect my children to live healthy and productive lives I needed to model the behaviors I wanted to see in them.  If I don't do what I say I'll do, then I don't have the right to say it.  I know I will be healthier as a result, feel better about myself, and I'll continue being able to wear the clothes I currently have, and not those that I could grow into. Besides, if I can get you to join me, it would be a great thing!  Why not join me?

Each Friday from now until April 9th I'll be posting my results and sharing them with you.  If you would like to take a commitment with me, I'd like to support you.  Let's support each other and get healthier along the way.  Any takers?  First join Linkedin.com and then click on the following: Linkedin where you can post your commitment and I'll provide ongoing feedback and weekly updates on my progress.

I'm looking for some committed partners. These are individuals willing to hold me, and others accountable for a public commitment, and those willing to share their commitment with others.  This is the 1st time I'm doing this, and I believe through a shared commitment the potential for our achievement is far greater.  I look forward to hearing from you!

Be well,

John
