Times of Change

Over the past couple months I've had folks inquiring where I have been, as I have been quite absent from cyberspace.  Generally it is not a good idea to be absent from the marketplace, but periodically it is necessary to step back from what you are doing to assess where you are.  I believe if we are going to be effective and teach others to improve the way they work it is important for us to also re-examine the foundation of our efforts to ensure we have a firm footing before trying to build our organization further.  So that is exactly what we are doing.  Over the past month and during the months of July and August we will be reexamining the way we do business.  We have engaged the assistance of a world class strategist to assist us in this effort and will be reaching out to many of our friends for feedback.  We are incredibly excited by all of this and plan on being far more focused in order to provide an elevated level of service to our existing as well as new partners.  To share our experience with you here are a few items we are examining for you to consider.

Do you find yourself charging forward and failing to stop periodically to assess where you been, where you are, and where you are going?  We are finding that it is important to take time to examine the path you have taken and whether or not it is the best one for you.  This is essential in determining whether you are really making progress or just staying busy.  Sometimes we assess where we are going but fail to look at our current location relative to the goals we set for ourselves in the prior six months or year.  By looking at our progress relative to our former goals we get a good indication whether they were effective, what needed to change, and if we have really been successful.  I cannot help think that at times we mistake accidental accomplishment for planned success.

Was the plan you put in place a year or six months ago effective in delivering you to the goal you set?  What changes did you make in the process?  If the changes were extensive or the tools you undertook not effective what corrections did you undertake?  Hopefully this will allow you to better think about your plans to move forward.

If you did not have a plan, what got you to where you are?  If you had been more intentional or strategic in the development of your plan six months or year ago, would you have arrived at a different destination?

Going forward you can use this information to help you assess where you want to be, what you will need to get there, and changes you will need make to achieve the goals that you want rather than arriving where you are by accident.

I hope you have a wonderful summer and I can't wait to share our progress with you.

Be well!
John
