Greetings!

I admit I was feeling  a little rebellious towards the cold days coming but am starting to gently settle into all the things I love about this time of year. There is something so magical and heartwarming about it. Gotta love a country road like above in the peak of fall foliage. I'm fully embracing the vibrant colors, smells of fireplaces, firepits, chestnut stands on the corner, burning leaves, and how those warm home cooked meals provide sweet comfort and taste even better!  You can't be a "wimp" in NYC when it comes to weather since you are destined to face it every time you walk out of a building and on to the streets.  I've often thought of weather as a great "equalizer" of sorts because none of us have any control over it!  Therefore, especially in a walking city such as NYC - you can feel a shared sense of comradery, "all for oneness", and connectedness when enduring the elements that I find  rather soothing.

One Love,
  Lynn

Hot Topic

I've been concerned for a long time with how sick our society as a whole has become with so much disease on the rise. It's a very serious issue. I am also highly disturbed by the heavy circulation of all the current viruses and flu's. There are a lot of people sick out there, there's also a lot of hype, paranoia and panic happening. I think it is immensely important to remember we are still the ones that control our own bodies and there are many things we can do to protect ourselves and our immune systems from becoming weak and vulnerable.

Here are a few  tips for staying in the healthy zone:

1.  REST and lots of it, sleep. I know it is difficult when managing children but they need the sleep too. Routines and schedules help tremendously.(and make sure to also send lots of love in those backpacks)

2.  My usual - Listen to your body!  Are you pushing yourself too hard? feeling draggy, tired? Know when to SLOW DOWN. Your body will tell you when enough is enough before it becomes more vulnerable and weakens.

3.  Food is a drug! Food is medicinal!  Raw garlic for example is one of my favorite cure all's if you start to feel you are coming down with something. To reduce "your odor" offending the rest of the world - chop up and swallow like a pill with water, and follow with a handful of parsley or a parsley supplement.

4.  HYDRATE  - large amounts of water. Can't stress it enough. Although many people think they are hydrating with other liquids due to their "water base", most beverages are in fact very dehydrating such as coffee, soda, tea...

4. Wash your hands regularly.

5. Avoid touching your face with your hands particularly if they are not clean.

6. Keep warm and bundle up.

7. Load up on high anti-oxidant foods!  Choose a colorful assortment of fruits and vegetables.

8. Positive and healthy mindset! View and visualize yourself as strong, resilient, and healthy. Don't buy into that you are doomed to get something.

I'm not a advocate of the flu shot. Never have been.  I will not preach my thoughts on this but would highly suggest that people do some of there own research as to the pro's and con's. I am happy to forward anyone articles I have if interested.
