We, along with our dedicated staff and talented instructors, are passionate about finding ways to help you exercise intelligently while meeting your fitness goals. Instructor Exercise Tip that is sure to tone arms
Compliments of our talented Pilates and Gyrotonic instructor Tara Harrison-Dancu (pictured). Tara can be found teaching group classes at our 2nd Ave & Scarsdale studio as well as Private lessons at the Lexington, Scarsdale and 2nd Ave studios.
Triceps Dips with a Kitchen Chair
Facing away from the chair place the heel of your palm at the edge of your chair with your fingers facing you. Walk your feet out about a foot away as if you were sitting in mid air. Check that your shoulders are down away from your ears. Bend your elbows allowing your bottom to move closer to the floor and then straighten then returning back to the original “seated” position. As you bend your arms imagine you are hugging someone behind you with your elbows and the shoulders remain away from the ears. Be sure to engage the core so you are not sitting into your joints.
2 Sets of 10; twice a day
Enjoy this healthy recipe
Alexia Simmons, CFM talented Pilates Instructor Since 2003 (pictured) shares one of her favorite recipes to jump start her day. I have deliciously modified this Real Simple magazine's breakfast recipe to add some extra layers of flavor. Though it's my favorite meal of the day, full disclosure compels me to admit having this for dinner... often. I am sure one might expect a super-healthy recipe coming from a Pilates/Gyrotonic Studio... and this...well... at least it has eggs! Even we professionals who love to promote health should occasionally be allowed a naughty bit of something - heavy cream in this case - but c’mon -- why not? You can always add a side salad (see picture) to erase some of the guilt. Dip your toast in these tasty baked eggs-with-cream and enjoy! -
