What's Happening at CFM
Now that our Fall classes are in full swing at all three of our studios, we’d like to express our sincere gratitude to all of our loyal patrons and offer a warm welcome to all of our new clients – we look forward to meeting you soon! We remain committed to helping you achieve your desired fitness goals and commend you for your dedication to the Pilates and Gyrotonic methods – an intelligent way to exercise.
We recently hosted our first trunk show at the Lexington Ave. Studio for the Anatomie clothing line. It was a great success and tons of fun so stay tuned for the upcoming event at our Scarsdale Studio, date to be announced soon. Let us know if there is a specific apparel line you love, as we may be able to feature it in a future event or our on- line store.
To complement your health/fitness regime, be sure to check out our helpful hints to avoid weight gain during the holidays, compliments of our registered dietician, Alisa Funk (Shanna’s sister!).
Thank you to everyone who responded to the email about volunteering for the 38th Annual Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club Decorator Show House . We also want to give a shout out to one of our long time clients and accomplished interior designer Elissa Cullman who designed the gorgeous dining room. The show house opened on October 14th and will continue through November 14th. Don’t miss out on this chance to support a great cause!

Survey Feedback
Thanks to all who participated in our survey. We received valuable feedback pertaining to schedules and equipment. As a result of that feedback, we’ve purchased more equipment for the tower mat classes in Scarsdale and added more class levels to the schedule at 2nd Ave. We're always open to suggestions, tips and critiques so if you missed out on the last survey click the survey link below.

Pilates on the Road
With THE holiday gift giving season right around the corner, why not pick up a Pilates on the road card and check one thing off your list. A CFM EXCLUSIVE.
Comfort Food Eating Tips
With the cold weather upon us it is easy to crave comfort food which is often high in fat and simple carbohydrates. Comfort food improves your mood by creating “feel good” brain chemicals, causing an initial blood sugar spike, leading to a feeling of euphoria, but levels plummet back to normal as soon as your pancreas releases insulin. And all that excess sugar you’ve just eaten is stored as fat if it is not burned as energy! If you feed your food craving, relish its flavor and enjoy guiltfree; just realize that it is a seasonal indulgence, and not part of your regular fare OR you might try a dish makeover so it can become a part of your recipe repertoire. And keep up the exercising!
Consider these recipe re-do's:
Replace refined flour and grains with whole-grain versions to boost fiber (e.g., in baking you can usually swap half whole-wheat flour for white flour).
Incorporate seasonal produce for extra vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Find out what’s seasonal in your state at: http://www.sustainabletable.org/shop/seasonal/
Swap out low-fat milk or reduced-fat cheese for their full fat counterparts to minimize saturated fat intake.
Ask yourself: Can I get by with using less butter, oil or sugar and still have success (e.g., in most baked goods and desserts you can reduce sugar by one-third of the original amount)?
Add fresh herbs or spices to season instead of reaching for the salt shaker.
Scale down portion sizes.
**Stay tuned for a recipe makeover in our January newsletter.
