| Greetings!
Reminder: We are closed Saturday and Sunday this week for Independence Day. This year's fireworks are scheduled for Saturday, July 4th at dusk.
Summer Sale: Yup it's that time of the year. We have two big sales a year. The summer sale gives us a chance to clear some shelves to make way for the new fall merchandise that has already begun to arrive. The sale will be during regular business hours Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday NEXT week, July 9, 10, 11 and 12. PLUS doors open one hour early (at 9 a.m.) on Thursday, July 9 for Heritage Club members. What? Not a Heritage Club member? We'll sign you up on the spot! Heritage Club membership gives you special pricing and privileges year-round. Ask for details next time you are in. |

For Weavers: Click here for a link to the Handwoven magazine resources page. Then, go all the way down to the bottom of the page for a really cool tool: a master yarn chart showing all the yarns used in projects since 2000. It has an image of the yarn, yards per pound and recommendations of average setts. We've printed it out and it hangs in by the cones, but I thought you should know about it for your work at home.
For Spinners: Click here for a link to Spinning How-To articles from Spin-Off magazine. Included are topics such as measuring twist per inch; the difference between roving, sliver and top; how to do a long draw; and even brochures to support your spinning in public (just print them out and pass them out to those inquiring minds).
Many of you already know about Ravelry for knitters, but did you know that weavers now have a site of their own? It's called Weavolution. Click on over and check out their offerings.
Free patterns. Crystal Palace Yarns at www.straw.com has some nice free knitting and crochet. Here's one for a shawl using Panda Silk DK (which we carry) that I thought was nice and different. Click here for shawl pattern. |

In between knitting samples for us, Kathy found the time to knit this gorgeous sweater for herself. It is made from Azapa. A wool and alpaca blend chunky yarn that is very, very nice. The pattern is from Fall 2005 Vogue Knitting.
As always, click on the image for a closer-up view. |

Class Spotlight:
UFO Summer Camp. Sunday, 7/5. This is your opportunity to come play inside a yarn shop for a day. It will be kind of like a lock in like the kids do. The shop is closed except for Summer Campers. Bring your UFOs and get some work done. Watch a movie, browse the books, take a walk, enjoy the company. How perfect is that? Details on the website. SPACES STILL AVAILABLE!

Coming in the Fall
The Orion Township Library is sponsoring a Knitting Circle on Monday evenings. We will have patterns and kits designed especially to support the Knitting Circle. One is a tote, another a baby blanket and the third a lace shawl. We've tried to cover multiple levels of knitting skills. Buy a kit during August or September and 10% of the sale will go to support the library. For more information on this knitting evening, write Karrie: kroever@orionlibrary.org.
Starting Wednesday, July 8 at 7 p.m.
Concerts in the Park in Lake Orion
This week: Black Cat Blues Band. This three-piece group has a reputation for digging into conventional blues. The band's influences are many and the members perform with great passion inspired by their love of music. Come hear and feel the blues! Bring your knitting and your spinning and look for the gang from Heritage enjoying the music and good company.
Knitters, Speak Up!
Storey Publishing is developing a list of knitters' all-time favorites and would love for you to cast your vote. Here are their questions:
- What special projects do you think every knitter should make?
- What knitting techniques should every knitter master - or at least try?
- What are your favorite yarns to knit with, places to knit, patterns, knitting experiences?
Summer Fiber Retreat
There are still spaces available in the fiber retreat. Check the details here.
Summer Hours
Reminder: There is no Wednesday evening Drop In Knitting and we close at 5:00 on Wednesday's through August.

Otherwise, we will remain open seven days through the summer.
