Greetings!

I've been away at the island all week, first for a short retreat (www.inselhausbandb.com), then several days to focus on my "quiet" work. How glorious. Mariah, my 16 year old, is here with me. We've gone on walks, played Monopoly and had more than one Gilmore Girl marathons. Today we will finish season one and start season two. The deer are in the meadow daily, the eagle made an appearance and the ice on the straits has entertained since our arrival. On top of all that, I finished my last swatches for my Master Knitter program and done some serious curriculum development work. I don't think we could have had a nicer week! Tomorrow we fly off and head to my parent's for the holy-days.
 Trunk Show Samples
The current shipment of the rotating Simply Shetland trunk show brought these beauties. The sweater is from Simply Shetland Book 4 and is called the Autumn Rose Pullover. The second photo is a detail from the Diamond Lace Shawl from Simply Shetland Book 3. A third sweater is not pictured here. Come and see these for yourself. If you are a Fair Isle knitter (or wanna be), you'll want to check out the sweater!

Friends of Heritage Gallery
Talk about a handful! This is Karin, Christel's daughter and her two boys Alex (on left) and Noah. Both boys are sporting handknit sweaters but it is Noah's that has Heritage roots. Christel knit him a Wallaby with yarn from the sale bin - a worsted weight machine washable wool similar to the Lamb's Pride Superwash we now have. Aren't the colors fun?

Classes
Our class scheduling guru, Jamisen, has been busy working on revamping the functionality of the classes portion of our website. You can now click on the class calendar and see not only classes that are starting, but also classes that are ongoing. Plus, at the top of each section, you have sorting options. Take a peak and let us know what you think - we'd like your feedback.

Lillie's Little SweaterClass spotlight: Lillie's Little Sweater. Cindy is teaching this "new" favorite. The pattern, from Cottage Creations, is a button up the front hoodie. Dressed up or down, it is equally suited for girls or boys. It comes in quite a few sizes and is the perfect make-ahead gift to have on hand. If you've been a scarf knitter or only knit very basic sweaters, this class will take you to the next level in a toddler sized quick knit. Come have fun and take your knitting to the next level!

A New Class Idea

I recently came across a pattern that re-ignited my interest in doing a class around a doll. Well, first I just had itchy fingers and had to knit a doll. The pattern was just the launching point. Since the doll is a surprise gift for a friend, I can't go into the details here, but I can tickle your imagination. Imagine the fiber-exploring, the creating, the scheming. I had such FUN! I practiced creating in a safe environment (and even collaborated with another knitter- the possibilities are endless!). I'll probably run this in the fall as a multi-week class. Don't miss it - no matter what your skill level, you'll learn new stuff and have a cute swatch(es) to show for it! Photo next week, promise!

Happy Fibering!
