| This week's new yarn: Harry Potter |
|
It is finally here! We are pleased to announce the arrival of the long-awaited official Harry Potter sock yarn from Opal. Wolfgang Zwerger, Germany's resident sock wizard and inventor of the process of printing on the running thread, has worked closely with Warner Brothers to conjure up unique colorations and stripings for students and teachers at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardy, that include Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Dumbledore, Hedwig, Lupin, Draco Malfoy, and Tonks.
Fans of the books and the subsequent movies will have a hard time finding a favorite: they all are very attractive. My personal favorite is Hedwig.
Opal is a family run company - second in command to Wolfgang is his son Frederic. With five designers on staff, they have consistently been leaders in the self-patterning sock arena. Visit their website to see other spectacular yarns in the Opal collections. |
| Summer is over! |
|
That's Jae with her needles at the ready. Summer break is over and Wednesday night Drop In Knitting is back in session from 7:00 to 8:30 or so. With cooler weather upon us, it is time to dust off those projects you cast aside because you ran into a problem, bring them in and have Jae help get you back on track.
Here are five good reasons to come to Drop In Knitting:
1. To learn to knit.
2. To learn a new technique.
3. To figure out how to fix mistakes.
4. To start a new project that will take you to the next level.
5. Because Jae needs company! (Doesn't she look lonely?!)
Details about Drop In Knitting sessions are on the website. |

JUST ADDED: The Fish Sweater. Starts 10/18. Ann, our instructor writes: Are you tired of knitting scarves and dishcloths? Ready for something new but intimidated by the technique? Why not make a fish sweater! That's right, a sweater for a fish. Well, not really......The fish sweater is a sampler, designed to help you learn and get comfortable with several techniques including shaping, button holes, I - cords, bind-offs...too many to list. We will even cut (gasp!) your knitting and add a pocket. For me, the fish sweater helped me start to 'understand' my knitting, and gave me the confidence to branch out into different projects. Stop by the shop and check out the sample! Spinning Boot Camp II starts this month. Have you signed up? We're going to have fun playing with all kinds of non-wool fibers!
Visiting instructor Beth Brown-Reinsell, author of Knitted Ganseys will be here for two classes:
