| Open House on Saturday - You are Invited! |

Heritage Spinning & Weaving Open House. Saturday afternoon, September 27 from 1 to 4. Enjoy donuts and cider, see the art show for the first time, watch some of our artisan customers at work and buy their products (So far: Marie Lise's bags, Mary's weaving, and Sybil's silversmithing and Dorothy will be doing a tatting demo). It is a very pleasant afternoon. |
| The shelves are bursting with new yarns! |

The photo at right was taken at TNNA in June. On the left is Christa, one of our visiting instructors and knitting retreat hostess at Insel Haus. Christa is in love with double knitting and became enamoured with it through Marianne Isager's work in the book Knitting Out of Africa. That's Marianne pictured at right wearing Christa's double knit swing coat. It was here at the booth that we were introduced to the Isager yarn collection. This week the yarns we ordered came in. They are very grown up, European and quite scrumptious. The books that go with them have something for every body size and knitting skill level. A very, very nice collection.
We also received the Berroco Comfort DK collection with pattern books. This yarn has been very popular in the worsted weight since we brough it in last year - now you have more options.
We added 12 new colors of Jade Sapphire Lacy Lamb. This is a laceweight lambswool that is also superwash - you cannot accidentally felt your bazillion hours of lace knitting! Pretty colors and a couple of new patterns to go with it.
Two others that arrived and are not pictured here: Lang's Jawoll sock yarn - the kind that comes with a matching skein of reinforcing yarn and Jojoland Superwash Sock Wool with the great swirl shawl pattern from their website. Do take a peek!
Finally, I told you about Elsebeth Lavold Bambool last week, but this week I have to tell you that I've knit with it and, well, fell in love all over again. It feels sooooo good. We've got a wee sample in the store. Come feel for yourself! |

Afghans & Throws: A step-by-step guide to knit and crochet designs, patterns, and techniques
By Luise Roberts
From the moment I saw this book I knew I wanted to peruse its pages as the cover art on its own is thought provoking. Actually, I believe I started to drool. It contains a vast amount of helpful information. From choosing the best tools, to designing ideas, an exciting stitch directory, and a collection of diverse projects that I would in reality finish. I became even more excited when I read the chapter about beading - one of my personal favorite embellishing techniques. From the beginner to the experienced knitter and crocheter, you'll be inspired to create many works of art!
