Sewing Guild

The Stitchers of Hope, a chapter of the American Sewing Guild will be meeting on the first Tuesday of every month at 10:00. Come learn and share projects with a great group.
Beginner Sewing Teacher: Sharon Sears
October 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th, November 3rd and 10th 6:00-7:30 Fee: $80
Learn the basics of beginning sewing. This session you will be making a night gown and pants. Kit is included in the price of the class. Session this time is 6 weeks long and is from 6:00-7:30 each Wednesday night.
Beginning Quilting Class (Pumpkin Wall Hanging) - Teacher: Betty Adams
Friday October 8th 10:00-2:00 Fee: $30
If you have always wanted to learn how to quilt but were afraid you couldn't do it, this is the class for you. Learn the beginning techniques for making a quilt, using a rotary cutter and ruler, sewing ¼" seams, and squaring up your blocks. Simple and easy to learn, this quilt goes together very quickly and can be done in an afternoon. Kit is supplied for the class and pattern.
Embroidery Club
Wednesday October 13th 1 to 2p.m Fee: None
Everyone with an embroidery machine is welcome. This is an opportunity to meet with other embroiders, share ideas and make fun projects. Club meets the second Wednesday of each month. This month we will be making a zipper rose. Please bring a 36" zipper, scissors, 4 x 4 piece of felt to match the zipper, bar pin, fray block, and glue gun. Don't forget to bring your sew n tell for Halloween or Fall.
Album Quilt Block - Teacher: Betty Adams
Thursday October 14th 2:00-4:00 Fee: $15
The album block was a favorite of the pioneers going west on the wagon trains. Friends and family members could write a favorite sentiment or good wishes in the center bar of the block, making the quilt a scrapbook of memories for the departing families. Take a step back in time and make your own Album quilt using today's fabulous prints and easy techniques. Fabric must be purchased from Fenton Sew and Vac and a 10% discount applies to all supplies and fabric for class.
Hoop Sisters Dresden Plate - Teacher: Robin Zimmer
Friday October 15th 10:00-1:00 Fee: $10
Having trouble with your Hoop Sisters Dresden plate quilt? Robin will demonstrate and show you how to piece the block and put them together with sashing. Hoop Sisters Embroidery Quilt pattern must be purchased or have been purchased from Fenton Sew and Vac for $10 fee to apply. If purchased elsewhere, the fee is $50. Feel free to bring your embroidery machine or watch as the process is demonstrated.
Snap Sack Quilt ( Boxer Shorts )
Thursday October 21st 1:00-6:00 Fee: $30
Learn to make a wall hanging or quilt from beginning to end. We will be making the Boxer Shorts Quilt Block Wall hanging in class. You will piece, quilt and bind your item in one class. Kit is supplied for the class.
Kids Club - Teacher: Robin Zimmer Fee: $15
Saturday October 30th Choose from 10:00, 12:00 or 2:00 class times. Kit supplied. Each class last 1 hour.
You can register for class either at the store or by phone. Fees are due at the time of registration and can be paid in person at the store, by credit card over the phone, or with a check through the mail. A paid class fee is the only thing that guarantees your spot in class and prevents you from being "bumped: when the class fills.
Class registration closes three (3) days prior to the scheduled class date.
No fees will be refunded or credits issued for a missed class. Our commitment to our instructors does not allow make-up classes. Refunds or in-store credits will be issues only if: (a) The store cancels the class, or (b) You notify us three (3) days prior to the scheduled class date.
Only registered students may attend a class. Any one "sitting-in" must also register.
In order to provide high-quality sewing education, we ask that materials and supplies for classes be purchased at Sew N Vac whenever possible. Students are eligible to receive a 10% discount off regular priced merchandise for class materials and/or for purchases of regularly priced merchandise on the day of the class.
Please refrain from using colognes and perfumes; someone in class may have an allergic reaction to heavy fragrances.
The classroom opens 15 minutes before scheduled class time.
