THURSDAY, JULY 19 AT 6:30

"This excellent winery continues to carve out a well-deserved reputation for its interesting red wine portfolio." - Robert M. Parker Jr.

She will pour and discuss red and white blends and the stars of the Elyse portfolio - their award-winning Zinfandels and Cabernet Sauvignons. If you like Napa-textured wines with full-throttle flavor, balance and complexity, you'll want to be in attendance at this presentation.

Cost per person is $10

and will include cheeses and snacks to tide you over to dinner.

MOLLYDOOKER

Your next wine opportunity comes from a shipment of full-throttled Mollydooker we just received.

2011 The Violinist ($29.99). From The Wine Advocate (89 points): "The 2011 The Violinist Verdelho presents a moderate intensity of pear and warm apple fruit aromas with hints of white pepper and fresh hay. Dry, rich, full-bodied, creamy textured and with good flavor concentration in the mouth, it has a long finish."

2010 The Maitre D' Cabernet Sauvignon ($29.99). From The Wine Advocate (90 points): "Very deep garnet-purple colored, the 2010 The Maitre d' Cabernet Sauvignon has notes of creme de cassis and black cherry preserves with a hint of mocha and a touch of hung meat. Full-bodied, the palate fills the mouth with warm berry and savory flavors supported by crisp acid and a medium level of fine grained tannins, finishing long."

2010 Two Left Feet ($29.99). From The Wine Advocate (90 points): "A blend of 72% Shiraz, 12% Cabernet Sauvignon and 16% Merlot, the 2010 Two Left Feet has a deep garnet-purple color and a slightly closed nose of black currant cordial, mulberries, espresso and tree bark with a whiff of bacon. Full-bodied, ripe, rich and spicy in the mouth, it has a good foundation of crisp acid and a medium level of silky tannins, finishing long."

2010 Blue Eyed Boy ($54.99). From The Wine Advocate (93 points): "A blend of Langhorne Creek and McLaren Vale fruit, the 2010 Blue Eyed Boy Shiraz presents a very deep purple black color and is profoundly scented of warm black berries, blueberry pie filling, licorice and cloves with hints of Chinese five spice, mocha and cedar. Very rich, powerful and very full bodied, the concentrated fruit is well balanced by a medium to firm level of rounded tannins and lively acid. It has a very long milk chocolate and coconut laced finish. Give this wine another year for the oak to marry and drink it 2013 to 2020+."

2010 Carnival of Love ($99.99). Now available to us for the first time in YEARS! From The Wine Advocate (95 points): "Produced of 100% Shiraz from a single vineyard, the 2010 Carnival of Love was aged in American oak, 97% new. Very deep purple-black in color, it is intensely scented of blueberry preserves, creme de cassis and warm black cherries with an undercurrent of baking spices, licorice, mocha, vanilla, toast and eucalypt. Very full and densely packed with warm blackberry and spice flavors on the palate, it has a solid structure of medium to firm velvety tannins and very crisp acid, giving way to a very long finish. Still quite tight and primary, it should drink best 2014 to 2023+."

SATURDAY WINES

On Saturday, we'll be pouring the wines of Cartlidge & Brown. Founded over 30 years ago in Saint Helena, California, original owners Tony Cartlidge and Glenn Browne began their Wine Country dream -- making only the highest quality, premium wines from California AVAs. With the flexibility to source and produce wine from the finest vineyards in California -- Sonoma Coast, Mendocino and into the Sierra Foothills -- Cartlidge & Browne seeks to supply wines that are food friendly, full-bodied and European in style.   We'll be pouring samples of their Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Zinfandel, all under $15. Our special wine (with requested donations of $5 to benefit the Avery County Humane Society) will be the 2008 Turnbull Cabernet Sauvignon ($49.99), so come have a quintet of sips, starting at 1:00 p.m., just about the time you're tired of watching the Open Championship on tv.
