Erick's Cheese & Wine Shop

CELEBRATING THIRTY ONE YEARS
 REN & RANDALL'S SEVENTH YEAR

INTRODUCING ERICK'S TASTING ROOM

The space next door is vacant again.  This provides us an opportunity to enhance the Erick's experience by offering wine by the glass, exciting educational programs, a greater range of beers, accessories and gourmet food products.

We'll have some seating on the front patio, and more inside, to provide a more leisurely and comprehensive wine tasting experience.  Not only will you now be able to sit and relax and enjoy a full glass of some of our best wines but flights of small pours to compare and contrast.   For example, we'll pour syrahs and sauvignon blancs from three different regions to showcase their unique expressions. Tasting notes will be provided on all wines poured.  We will change the wines on a frequent basis...so keep coming back to try new wines. We'll also offer selections from our world-famous cheese display cases so you can see what wines and cheeses pair best.

This summer we'll also be able to invite you to join us for structured tastings by visiting wine makers, who will present their latest wines, and classes featuring focused explorations of the wines of the most famous regions around the globe.  If you're going to be in the area just before Memorial Day, mark Friday, May 28, on your calendar and plan to join Tony Coturri in the Tasting Room at 6: 30p.m..

The grandson of Enrico Coturri and the latest artisan in the family, Tony is less a wine maker than the caretaker of a small plot of vineyards entrusted to him to farm organically.  His task is to enable the vines to usher forth the purest expressions of their terroir possible.    No pesticides, fungicides or herbicides are used, no synthetic yeasts or concentrating additives or processes are used, no water, sugar or acid is added and no non-traditional treatments or artificial manipulation is permitted.  The Coturri wines are as old-fashioned and traditional as wines can be, and the results are wines of uncompromising purity, freshness, balance and complexity.  We will provide cheese and light hors d'oeuvres pairings.  The cost is $25.00 and reservations are required.  You can call us at 828.898.9424, reply to this e-mail or sign up at the store.

The art lover of your family will enjoy the works of local artists (from the Tynecastle Art Gallery) that we will be displaying.  These will be available for sale, and all can be enjoyed for free over a glass of wine!  Art, cheese and wine - what better way to pass a few minutes while conjuring up that nice purchase next door.
