Nancy Conway
Welcome back to school, primary teachers! The following list of strategies was presented at one of our earlier webinars on Primary Writing. We thought teachers would appreciate being reminded what they need to cover and what skills their students need to have by the end of the year. If your students can do more, by all means have them do more. This is the "need to know" list. Many strategies are placed at a grade level and then repeated the next year. We want teachers to revisit strategies and review them even if the students have had them previously.

90/90/90 Schools Summits
Sponsored by Doug Reeves and The Leadership and Learning Center, these summits will highlight research and replicable practices used by results-driven, high achieving schools. You will hear directly from administrators of now-successful 90/90/90 schools about their journeys, challenges, and successes.
The most important practice of all the successful 90/90/90 schools is the emphasis on expository writing. Alice will be sharing The Write Tools' strategies at these important summits:

Set goals for the semester with this Autumn Tree Activity. This is a great activity that can be adapted to the classroom. Create this tree with many leaves.Work with students to develop an appropriate goal for them to achieve this winter. Ask them to write a sentence about their goal on one of the leaves. As they move toward achieving their goal their leaf begins to fall off of the tree. Soon you'll have a bare tree and successful students!
