Greetings!
Bad Kitty Cover
Nick Bruel's energetic book, Bad Kitty will capture your imagination. This book weaves through the alphabet four times as it highlights a kitty's naughty and eventual nice behavior. The author's delightful word choice become mini-lessons for our students.

Level 1 and Level 2 writers can chart the precise nouns, list the powerful verbs, and recognize various alliterations sprinkled throughout the text. This book is also a good model for the Sentence Building strategies found in The Write Tools binder. On page 19, Level 1 writers draw, write and check their sentences for a who/what, an action, and a finish the thought. Nick Bruel's sentences have exactly this same pattern. What a great way to practice Sentence Building with students' own ideas about Bad Kitty!

For Level 2 and Level 3 writers, the fun begins at the very end of this book. The author has set up the pattern for the next episode of Bad Kitty with her brand new friend. Wouldn't your students love to be the authors for this new section?
