Have a Faith

Greetings!

 Sept 5th 2010    weather: hot

Every summer Mrs.Malchovich takes us to one week camping trip, but due to her financial difficulties, we have been spending our summer in our Wonderland neighborhood.

"We expected too much on Obama," Making a summer sale sign for her store,Mrs. Malchovich sighed."We thought he can turn things around, but most of middle class citizens are still struggling.I am definitely switching to Republican." She said.

"You have got to have a faith. Things were already accumulated before he became President. We have to give him time." Sipping his iced tea, Joe the lawyer disagreed with Mrs. Malchovich.
"You can say that because you are doing great with your show. I don't have much time to give him any more. " Mrs.Malchovich argued.

Joe the lawyer's day time show "Joe the Lawyer" started on air in May. Since then, the ratings of his show were going up and so was his popularity from the public. What Joe the lawyer does in his show was inviting the couples from the public who were divorcing and giving them a practical legal consultation. But toward the end of the show his consultations were always interrupted by the couples fighting on the stage. Sometimes the fights were verbal, but most of the time they were physical. We couldn't even hear what they were saying because of the constant beeping sounds.   "He wanted to be a successfully lawyer. Then what is he doing now? Jerry Springer? "                      I remembered Don smirk with a little contempt, but I also remember it was Don who encouraged Joe the lawyer to take the offer from the TV station.

"Faith is important. "said Joe the lawyer to Mrs.Malchovich. "Without faith, you can't accomplish anything. You have a faith in your art. That's why people are buying your drawings, isn't it?"

He turned to me from Mrs. Malchovich. I wasn't sure if the faith was making me draw or not, but it was true that the more drawings were sold at Everybody's coffee and the more chicken variety pack cat food I earned. Now my Chickens Variety Packs were stocked in the kitchen cabinet and taking a whole space of it.

"I just don't want Don to worry about feeding me and my girl friend." I said.
"You are a good cat. We all have to save for a rainy day."
Mrs. Malchovich patted my head, which really made me proud of myself.

But then the rainy day came sooner than we expected.
That evening Don got his working hours at the liquor store cut back from six days to three days.

"How am I going to pay the rent?" Don sighed.

"I heard there was a vacancy at Everybody's museum."
Mrs. Malchovich said, trying to cheer him up. But Don looked at her as if she were insane to suggest him to work at the museum.
"Do you want me to stand still for 8 hours? I can't do that unless they let me use my computer while I am standing."
"How about Everybody's Book store? I saw a help wanted sign there the other day."
Joe the lawyer leaned forward to encourage Don.
"Don't you know all the clerks there haven't even reached legal drinking age? You want me to suffer for 8 hours?"
Don was frustrated and obviously taking it out on Joe the Lawyer and Mrs. Malchovich.
"So working at the liquor store is more like YOU."
Getting offended a little, Joe the lawyer got cynical.
"No," Don shook his head, but then he mumbled almost inaudibly, "but I can work on my script while working at the liquor store."

"That's why you got your shift cut back." said Mrs.Malchovich.
Glancing at her, Don stood up from the couch.
"I will take care of it, so don't worry about it."
Watching Don say that and leave, we got more concerned about him because we all knew that's what he usually said when he had no idea how to take care of it.

I couldn't just sit still and wait until Don would figure out what he was going to do. I need to help Don. I need to support him now. So what I did was selling my Chicken Variety Pack that I had saved for the rainy days.

But when Kenny found me on the street, he was upset.
"If my friends find out you are doing this, they are going to make fun of me. I get bullied! "
But I was determined.
"Don has a faith in his script. He is going to walk on the red carpet one day. If something prevents him from achieving it, I have to help him overcome the obstacles. I have a faith in Don!"
My speech moved Kenny to tears and he was convinced to help Don with me.

It was also surprising to discover that Kenny was very good at selling.

On the way back home, we tried to count how much we earned, but when the figures go up to more than 100, it confused Kenny and I could count only up to 10, so we didn't know how much the total was. But at least we knew we could make Don smile.

When we opened the door at Don's,Mrs. Malchovich and Joe the lawyer were there. I expected to see Don depressed in front of the computer. But from his living room, I heard their bursting laughers.

"Why are you guys so happy?" I asked.
"Don has got a big opportunity."
Mrs. Malchovich waved her hands for Kenny and me to sit on the couch.
Soon after we sat down, Joe the lawyer cleared the throat and started to talk.
"The guy I met in the studio is one of well known script writers for the popular TV show "Completely Lost.".I have never talked with him privately, but today I saw him drinking coffee alone, so I sat with him and talked about Don. Believe it or not, he is giving Don a chance to involve with writing Episode 185 of Completely Lost!"
Joe the Lawyer gave a high five to Don.
"Hey. I thought it was Episode 165." said Don, smiling. Joe the Lawyer waved his hands.
"Yeah, Somewhere around there. Anyway it is not like Don can make money out of this, but if he shows them that he can do a good job, this is going to be definitely a chance that leads up to his own script."
"It's like an internship, right?" Mrs. Malchovich sipped wine and gave Don another high five.
I knew the show "Completely Lost" and I always looked forward to watching it. Kenny and I jumped with excitement and ran to Don to give him another high five.
At that very moment the bills that I was squeezing in my paws fell all over the floor.
"Those are for you, Don. I sold some of My Chicken Variety Pack. " I said.
"These, too." Kenny also handed the bills in his hand.
Without a word, Don squeezed Kenny and me tight in his arms while Joe the Lawyer counted the bills. It was $400. I never understood the value of money, but I could see it would help Don someway and made him happy.

"Have a Faith, and the door will be open." said Joe the lawyer, nodding to his own remark.
"You're right. Faith is important. I am definitely going back to Democrat." Mrs. Malchovich also nodded. Suddenly Don stood up from the couch.
"I have got to call New York. Sylvia will be excited to hear this."
He walked away to his bedroom and closed the door behind him.But we all knew he just didn't want us to see him crying.

Well......Faith is good.
