The Opera Winfeild Show 

"Kenny's spiritual Journey"

Mrs.Malchovich and Sylvia were making a grocery shopping list for Thanksgiving. Writing Number 2 right next to "Turkey" on the shopping list, Mrs. Malchovich said, "I am going to make two Turkeys this year."
"We never finish even one every year. Why do we need two of them?"
Sylvia crossed out 2 from the list.
"Don't be so stingy, Sylvia. Think about all the things happened to us recently. My store opening, Joe's burglary case, and Kenny's home schooling.  It was tough to overcome, but all these things gave us a chance to see how much we care about each other. Our bond has got stronger. "
 Mrs.Malchovich wrote "2" back on the shopping list. 
 opera show 2"Does that have anything to do with buying two Turkeys?" asked Sylvia.
"Yes, it made me realize there were still lots of compassion to strangers in this country. Can you believe Opera Winfield cares about Kenny? Didn't
you see people who we don't even know are offering us their supports? We are blessed people. I want to share all our blessings with our neighbors on Thanksgiving."
Mrs.Malchovich still couldn't calm down after the excitement of the Opera Winfield show in this morning, which Joe the lawyer appeared on as a guest.
"Are you saying you are going to knock at every single neighbor to give away a piece of Turkey on Thanksgiving? They have their own Turkey at home. " Sylvia argued.
"I can make little side dishes with Turkey...... like Turkey pie or Turkey pudding."
"Please don't. I just want to have a relaxing family Thanksgiving dinner only with us and I believe our neighbors feel the same way. Don't make our plan complicated."
Sylvia crossed "2 " out again from the list and snatched it from the table.
Listening to their conversation, I had to chime in.
"If we visit our neighbors on Thanksgiving, Joe the lawyer might break into another house again."
This was my little concern over another possible disaster I thought we need to prevent to happen, but instead of agreeing with me, Mrs. Malchovich pointed at Kenny's room and said, " No eavesdropping. Please go check with Kenny and see how he is doing with organizing his bookshelf. 12 set of encyclopedias are on the way. He needs lots of space in his bookshelf." 

 
Kenny got 12 set of encyclopedias from Opera Winfield as a give away gift. The show was great. Joe the lawyer's emotional speech was very moving. Gathering in front of TV, we all were touched to tears and Joe the lawyer himself cried in front of the audience.

"I am a lawyer and I am a law abiding citizen. I know what I did was a crime. If I have to get punished for what I did, I am willing to do my time and take responsibility for what I did. But I want to be honest with you, Opera. I don't regret for what I did. If I have to bend a law to teach kids what is right and what is wrong and what sincerity to others means, I am willing to risk my career and my own life."
Joe the lawyer passionately talked to Opera and she was impressed with his speech during the show.Stroking his back, she held Joe the lawyer's hand and kept repeating, "I know how you feel."
 
Opera: "(in a compassionate tone)You must be feeling like your faith doesn't reach justice. Frustrating. "
Joe: "Yes. (bites his lip)"
Opera:"Devastating."
Joe:"Yes. (holds his tears)"
Opera: "And since then, one of the kids, Kenny, has been getting bullied at school."
Joe:"Yes. (shakes his head)"
Opera: "and he is now homeschooling."
Joe:"Yes. (cries out loud)"
Opera:
"(turns to TV camera and talks to Kenny through the camera) Kenny. Listen to me. You know God gave you strength to make it through this.opera 4It must be tough right now, but you are taking a spiritual journey, which is a chance that God gives all of us to grow stronger. Your spiritual strength can get all the bullies knockout. (raises her fist) Trust Joe the lawyer and me. Keep your faith on God. He can get you back to school. You know why? (smiles at the camera) Because this Opera is going to raise funds to support this loyal man, Joe Kawasaki and I will be the first one to donate Five thousand dollaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaars! (making a big eyed face, she opens her arms and the audience applauds)And Kenny! (turns to the camera with glaring eyes)I am sending you 12 volume set of encyclopedias to help you study at home until you get back to school! (The audience applauds.)" opera 5
 

 

 


 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 When I saw Opera's compassion and passion to help us out, I was overwhelmed and couldn't help but hold my both eyes with my paws. By then, we all were crying with joys. Mrs. Malchovich was hugging with Sylvia. Lisa was dancing on the table. But only Kenny seemed not so impressed with all the excitements from the show. 
"How come she chose encyclopedias?"
I heard Kenny mutter to himself.

Soon after the show was over, many of our neighbors called and visited Mrs. Malchovich to show their supports and give their encouragements to Kenny. 
But Kenny didn't still look so delighted.
"You just wanted something else but encyclopedias, didn't you?  You are so unappreciative."
Lisa looked at Kenny sideways with contempt.
"No, I just didn't understand what Opera said to me on the show."
Then Kenny turned to Mrs. Malchovich and, showing his grave concerns on his face, and asked, 
"Mom, Am I traveling with GOD?"

Now Kenny's bookshelf was almost organized and waiting for 12 set of encyclopedias to fit in.

 "Do you need help?"
I sat next to Kenny, who was holding the books in his hand with a worried look on his face.
"Opera said I was taking a spiritual journey....What is a spiritual journey?"
I didn't have my answer ready for that, so I improvised.
"Life is a journey and it's spiritual."
I couldn't tell if Kenny was convinced with my answer, which I myself didn't understand well, but he nodded anyway.
"OK...... But I just hope I am not traveling all by myself."
Seeing his worried face, I gave him a hug to comfort him.
"No, you are not traveling by yourself because I am with you wherever you go." opera 8
Kenny smiled back at me.
