Since I thought it was better to let Mrs. Malchovich know Mr.Malchovich was here,I knocked at the door and called her out.But no one answered and I couldn't find her anywhere.
Last night when I visited the Malchoviches,Lisa and Kenny were bouncing off the wall to prepare for this outing.
"It's been three months since the last time I saw Dad!"
Lisa was busy with choosing her outfits. Kenny was busy with packing snacks in his bag. But when Kenny was about to squeeze a banana into his bag full of snacks, Lisa stopped her hand and turned to Kenny.
"What are you taking a banana for?"
"I am going to give it to monkeys."
Kenny already sounded self--defensive.
"You can't feed animals in the zoo."
Lisa shook her head and looked at him as if she just had seen something she shouldn't have.
"How come?."
Kenny held the banana tightly in both hands.
"We are not supposed to feed the animals in the zoo."
"How come?" Kenny repeated.
"That's a rule in the zoo!"
Irritated by Kenny's repeating the same question, Lisa blared.
"But I always wanted to give a banana to monkeys."
"Doesn't matter. If you don't follow the rule, you can't come with us."
"But a monkey likes a banana."
Now Kenny tried to force the banana into his bag, ignoring what Lisa said to him. But Lisa snatched the banana from Kenny's hand quickly and threw it toward the kitchen. The banana hit the wall, flew back and dropped between Kenny and Lisa.
Since I saw Kenny pouting and holding back his tears, I had to say something to Lisa.
"Why are you so violent?" I said.
"I am NOT violent. Kenny makes me mad. He doesn't respect the rules and never follows the rules! Everyday we are supposed to take the trash out, but Kenny never does, saying the trash stinks, so I do it. Every Saturday we are supposed to clean our rooms, but he never does, saying he feels comfortable in a mess, so I do it. He always has an irritating excuse ready."
"How come it has to be Saturday? Why can I clean when it gets really messy? Saturday isn't good for me." Kenny talked back.
