Lisa and Kenny on Father's Day

fathers day
June   21st    Weather: Very Very Sunny

Mr. Malchovich was here in the morning to pick up Lisa and Kenny. The weather was perfect for their zoo visit on Father's day. Both Lisa and Kenny were so happy to see Mr. Malchovich. They had been eagerly looking forward to going to the zoo with their Dad.
Since I thought it was better to let Mrs. Malchovich know Mr.Malchovich was here,I knocked at the door and called her out.But no one answered and I couldn't find her anywhere.

Last night when I visited the Malchoviches,Lisa and Kenny were bouncing off the wall to prepare for this outing.
"It's been three months since the last time I saw Dad!"
Lisa was busy with choosing her outfits. Kenny was busy with packing snacks in his bag. But when Kenny was about to squeeze a banana into his bag full of snacks, Lisa stopped her hand and turned to Kenny.
"What are you taking a banana for?"
"I am going to give it to monkeys."
Kenny already sounded self--defensive.
"You can't feed animals in the zoo."
Lisa shook her head and looked at him as if she just had seen something she shouldn't have.
"How come?."
Kenny held the banana tightly in both hands.
"We are not supposed to feed the animals in the zoo."
"How come?" Kenny repeated.
"That's a rule in the zoo!"
Irritated by Kenny's repeating the same question, Lisa blared.
"But I always wanted to give a banana to monkeys."
"Doesn't matter. If you don't follow the rule, you can't come with us."
"But a monkey likes a banana."
Now Kenny tried to force the banana into his bag, ignoring what Lisa said to him. But Lisa snatched the banana from Kenny's hand quickly and threw it toward the kitchen. The banana hit the wall, flew back and dropped between Kenny and Lisa.
Since I saw Kenny pouting and holding back his tears, I had to say something to Lisa.
"Why are you so violent?" I said.
"I am NOT violent. Kenny makes me mad. He doesn't respect the rules and never follows the rules! Everyday we are supposed to take the trash out, but Kenny never does, saying the trash stinks, so I do it. Every Saturday we are supposed to clean our rooms, but he never does, saying he feels comfortable in a mess, so  I do it. He always has an irritating excuse ready."
"How come it has to be Saturday? Why can I clean when it gets really messy? Saturday isn't good for me." Kenny talked back.

"Then you never clean!  I am tired of taking YOUR responsibilities all the time. I am tired of living like this any more!"
Lisa screamed at the top of her lungs, threw the dress in her hand at Kenny and stumped out of the living room. I looked at Kenny, but somehow Kenny's tears were gone. Instead he gave me a knowing look with a big nod and said, "That's what my mom used to tell my dad."
I didn't know what to say, so I just picked up the banana on the floor and handed it to Kenny.
"Here is your banana."

sylvia on fathers day
Anyway, I was glad to see both Lisa and Kenny getting into Mr.Malchovich's car with their big smiles on their faces.
Waving her hand, Sylvia was seeing them off until she couldn't see the car any more.
"Too bad Mrs.Malchovich missed this. I looked for  Mrs. Malchovich, but I couldn't find her anywhere."
I said to Sylvia from the window.
Walking toward me, Sylvia smiled and said,
"We all have a choice for either love or hate. She will decide to choose Love when the right time comes. But right now let's just be happy to see Lisa and Kenny so excited."

fathers day don

That night, I told Don what Sylvia said to me.
He was listening to me with his eyes closed. Then he slowly opened his eyes.
"That's Sylvia. Very Sylvia. I knew she was Sun Shine. The Princess Sun Shine."
Don hugged me and gave me a kiss on the head.

Happy Father's Day, Lisa and Kenny!
