This Issue: HUSBAND AND WIFE 10 MINUTE BEAR TRIP

In the short time we have gotten to know them, Stephanie and Jerel Wottrich have gotten to be two of our favorite people.  Long-time principals with the Austin SCI chapter, they are an exuberant and enthusiastic pair with a shared passion for hunting. After three years of discussions, their first trip with Gangler’s CSAH finally arrived and all of us were pumped when they arrived June 16 for their 2011 spring black bear hunt.  As quickly as it began, it was over. By the end of the first night, within ten minutes of each other, both had filled out with two monster black bears.

 Stephanie was the first and husband Jerel actually heard the shot from his stand as he sat over his bait. He figured that was the end of the action and the night would be filled with prepping Steph’s bear. To his amazement, not ten minutes later a monster bear walked into his stand and he was soon done.

Both bears were huge. Steph’s  green-scored at 20” and Jerel’s at 20 14/16”. Both bears were right around 7’.

They then spent the rest of the week having a great time, catching lots of fish including a few Master Anglers, checking trail cameras for pics, of more big bears, and enjoying Northern Manitoba at its finest.

We have just a limited amount of openings for 2011 caribou and moose. The caribou dates are Sept.  3-10 and 17-24 . The moose is Sept. 26- Oct.  4. In particular, we have a couple of NEW dynamite areas for moose we would really like to get into this Fall.
