This Issue: Not So Fast on that Trophy !

A couple of email issues ago, we were ready to hand out our 2010 #1 trophy caribou ranking to a great caribou shot by guest Mark Beaudin . It hasn’t been scored yet but by all appearances is a top-tier animal capable of going #1 in Manitoba in 2010.

It wasn’t long after I got an email of protest from one of my guides, John Tronrud. John guides at our ‘other’ caribou camp on Courage Lake and to say there is friendly competition between the guides at the two camps is an understatement. John had just received an email from one of our guests he guided, Mick Harcharik, of Wyoming.  Mick just received his official score on his caribou, which he took home, and it tallied in at a monstrous 395 4/8.

This animal could possibly go into the Manitoba Top Ten of All-Time. I was personally at the camp when John brought the animal in, and the first words out of my mouth were ,”It’s without a doubt Boone and Crockett.” We are now asking Mick to enter it into the Manitoba Big Game Awards where it should take #1 for 2010. Mick actually shot TWO monster caribou with us as you’ll see by the pictures (the large is without velvet).

Congratulations Mick, it couldn’t happen to a nicer guy !

2011 Caribou Dates & Openings

We are shifting some of our dates slightly back in September. Please check our website for more details. For those interested, we still have assorted mixed openings available. We’re definitely pumped up and ready to go for 2011 !

2011 Caribou Now 7 Days

At CSAH, we are constantly tweaking things, always looking to give you the best hunt possible. In regards to caribou, it’s true a strong migration can mean all you need are two days to take two great animals. However, I don’t believe an outfitter should plan his trips based on the best case scenario but the more challenging. By adding an extra day,  it gives us more time, crucial time, in case we must shift hunters to other areas to catch the migration (please remember we do that at no extra charge).  It also allows bow hunters more time to be ‘picky’ when selecting their animal.  You are coming a long way and purchasing a quality hunt and we want it to be a memorable one !

The Manitoba Central-Barrenground caribou hunt now ranks #1 in the top quality caribou hunts in North America and CSAH is the finest in Manitoba !
