The 2010 moose hunt was marked by a mix of conditions but the end result was excellent by our books. Not perfect but lots of highlights.  Our outstanding CSAH crew of guides returned and as usual, worked hard to make everyone’s hunt successful.  The weather cooperated fairly well (as well as fall in the North can be ) which made calling more effective.  The fall seasonal progression was normal, unlike 2009 where fall seemed a month late. Overall success was 9 for 13 (70%). There were a couple of other close calls with bulls moving into close range but these bulls wouldn’t close that extra distance needed to finish the stalk. 

There were also several small bulls passed on. The largest moose was 57”.  There were 4 more over 50”.  Most of the camps had good activity although wolves caused some issues in a couple of areas.  We’ll have more details and pics later and are already gearing up for 2011. 2011 promises to be a great year with several new, never-before-hunted, areas to be opened.

Black bear/Wolf now included
with Moose Hunts

Beginning in 2011, we will now be adding our popular black bear option to all moose packages at no extra charge. No add-on fees, no trophy fees, FREE !  All a guest is required  to do is purchase the bear license.

This gives all moose hunters the opportunity to continue hunting after a successful moose hunt and try for a wolf and black bear.

In Manitoba, a hunter possessing any Big Game license may take a wolf at no extra charge on that license and the license is still good for the primary animal.

The key is the wolf must be taken first. A great strategy for CSAH hunters is to take the moose, then hunt over the carcass for the wolf. Bears at that time of the year will be taken off the carcasses or working berry fields.

The incredible CSAH black bear hunt has been featured on TV several times. This  trophy moose/black bear/wolf/ fishing combo is tough to beat !
