' It's amazing how many saltwater fishermen have no idea about how great
and unique the Canadian fishing experience is. As a Florida resident, I
concentrate strictly on saltwater and primarily with a flyrod. It's
definitely a great thrill hunting the flats and the fish fight HARD, when
they eat. However, to me, the atmosphere of Canada, fishing in remote waters
surrounded by pine, with marauding bands of pike cruising clear bays is a
tough thing to beat. Add to that big lakers, schools of walleye, and the
beautiful arctic grayling and it's a one-of-a-kind experience. We have taken
the most jaded saltwater fishermen and converted them. Here's a short report
from our latest convert, Dave Henry.'
Reformed Saltwater Snob
Dear Ken and Wayne,
Well I've had a couple of weeks to reflect on my week spent fishing with you folks. I must say that at the time I thought it was the best fishing experience of my life. I still feel that way.
For the past decade I've been fortunate enough to do a lot of light tackle fishing in the backwaters and inshore areas of Southwest Florida. Surely, there can be nothing better then having a giant snook hit in two feet of water or have a mega size jewfish spool you in 12 seconds. But the real thrill has always been to be able to spot the target fish before you catch it. Surely, nothing in freshwater fishing could compare.
Luckily, my friend Jim Hager continued to talk up the fishing and overall great times that he's had fishing with Gangler's. Fate allowed me an opportunity to fish with you folks. Of the seven trophy pike that I caught, three were caught in less then two feet of water using ultra finesse tactics and a light rod. What a thrill! The amount of trophy and near trophy fish that we hooked mere feet from the boat was also amazing. I keep daydreaming about a true monster pike that we had swing in front of the boat and check us out. The amount and quality of fish that you have in your lakes are truely remarkable.
Enclosed are pics of two fish that I caught using a 2.5" tube lure and a tiny Mr. Twister grub.
Thanks for everything and I will be back.
Sincerely,
David Henry
