Money doesn't buy happiness, but affirmation and encouragement certainly does.
We also shouldn't expect money alone to make the people we work with happy. Just look at the Washington Redskins' Albert Haynesworth. He has a 100 million dollar contract, but isn't happy and wants to be traded.
Make sure your people don't want to be traded, too.
