12:00 Noon, Portofino's Restaurant at Briar Leaf Golf Club, 3233 North State Rd 39, La Porte
Cost is $13.00, payable at the luncheon.

Menu Choices are:

1. Vegetable Crepes, rice & side salad

2. Cobb Salad with garlic bread

3. Reuben Sandwich with fries

These meetings are fun, symphony news is disclosed, laughter happens.    

 

DONATIONS FOR THE SUNFLOWER ACCESSORY SALE  

ARE NEEDED NOW!

Donate gently used jewelry, scarves, hats, ties, belts and other items for resale at the Sunflower Festival on September 17, downtown La Porte.  It has been a fun way to raise some funds for the symphony, participation is easy.  Bring items to the luncheon or drop them off at 912 Indiana Ave. lower level.  If no one is there, put them in the blue box outside the office door.   

 

LCSO CHILDREN'S CHORUS                        Attention 2nd - 5th graders

children singing It is time to sign up children of the community who want to join the LCSO Children's Chorus and express themselves through singing.  This ongoing program teaches choral performance fundamentals and gives students a variety of opportunities to sing with the symphony. 
Perform at two events in December: 
    The Indiana Ballet Theater production of The Nutcracker at the Star Plaza in Merrillville.
     A holiday presentation in La Porte on a Sunday afternoon titled:  Need a "Little" Christmas.

HOOSIER STAR 2011

Saturday, September 17, 2011  - 7:00 p.m.

La Porte Civic Auditorium, 1001 Ridge Street, La Porte, Indiana

 

Twelve finalists are preparing to compete for cash prizes and
the title of HOOSIER STAR 2011 winner!

It will be one exhilarating performance after another as the audience votes for the  best performance of the evening.  Great appreciation is extended to the event sponsors, Horizon Bank & NIPSCO, who continue to make this evening possible.  
The 6th annual HOOSIER STAR event includes a stage that radiates high energy and exceptional performers.  Finalists perform with the Hoosier Star Orchestra conducted by Phil Bauman, as well as a small ensemble of back-up singers from from an outstanding chorus called Illumination, directed by Becky Osborn.   

 

The glamour and sparkle of the evening is due to the colorful commentary and thrilling introductions.  Commenting on the performances of the finalists are three celebrity judges:  John Hancock, movie producer; Jackie Allen, jazz vocalist; and Bunny Fisher, actress and jazz vocalist.  Jackie Allen will perform a preview selection from the La Porte County Symphony Orchestra's upcoming November concert.  Introducing the contestants is a high-energy host for the evening, Ric Federighi from WIMS 1420AM. 

Audience members can purchase and enjoy delicious refreshments from IVY Tech Community College Culinary School, Temple News Agency, or Little Chocolates.  Also, a wide selection of beverages will be available from the cash bar furnished by Portofino's Restaurant

The La Porte Civic Auditorium's balcony has a great view which includes live video projections managed by Lakeshore Publlc Television technicians upon a large stage screen. Thousands of seats are available at $15 Adult or $ 5 Child (17 and under).  Upon arrival, every person who holds an admission ticket will be given two ballot tickets for voting purposes - one vote for the youth division and one vote for the adult division.  A team from Schmitt and Kaylor CPAs will tabulate the ballot boxes to determine the winners. Everyone can vote, even the kids!
