Backcountry Fees in the Smokies
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The National Park has been approved to begin collecting fees for the use of the Park's backcountry campsites and shelters. This new project is expected to improve trip-planning and reservation services and expand the backcountry Ranger presence.  The new policy won't be implemented until 2013.  There has been a lot of concern and many comments and questions about the new system, if you have any questions about why and how they will be doing this be sure to read more info about the project here.
