Question of the Week!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This section is dedicated to you, our readers! Feel free to reply to this email with any of your fun stories from your vacation in Pigeon Forge. Send us photos, memories, travel tips, anything that you would like to tell us about your experience in the Smokies. Every week we will highlight reader's comments in this article. Thanks for all the feedback. We love to hear from you!
This week's question, "Winterfest is here in Pigeon Forge!  What is your favorite part about visiting Pigeon Forge during Winterfest?"
Last week's question, "Now that it is officially November a lot of people quickly switch into Christmas season, have you started preparing for Christmas yet or do you wait until after Thanksgiving?"
Katie writes, "I enjoy celebrating one holiday at a time. If you keep wishing and preparing for the next holiday you miss the fun of the current one. I wait till after Thanksgiving to even start buying Christmas presents. I use to buy presents after the holidays and store them for a year, now the sales are just as good before the holiday and I have all that extra space in my house. I really try to give special gifts for the family so when we ask the next year they will be able to tell you what they received from you.  If people can't remember what you bought them last year, was the gift worth giving? My kids come over and remember some things in the house they liked when growing up....they get that item for Christmas with a special note attached."
Carolyn says, "About two weeks ago my Hubby and I went to a local Christmas tree farm to put our name on the tree we want.  The weekend of Thanksgiving we will go there, cut the tree, bring it home and decorate it.  Also, I have made a list of what we will have for both Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners.  Each year it is pretty much the same traditional foods: Thanksgiving we have turkey and all the trimmings; Christmas we have ham and all that goes well with that.  We have already begun watching Christmas dvds from our extensive collection.  Christmas is our favorite time of year because it is festive and fun but most of all because it symbolizes the birth of Jesus and that is very important to us."
Winter Park Closings
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Great Smoky Mountains National Park have announced their winter season facility closing schedule.  There are campground and road closings as well as horse stables and picnic area closings.  7 of the 10 Smoky Mountain campgrounds will close, the only two that will remain open are Cades Cove and Smokemont.  Also closing will be some of the secondary roads and some of the visitor services hours will be reduced.  See which of these are currently closed and which will be closing soon on the PigeonForge.com blog.
