Question of the Week!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This section is dedicated to you, our readers! Feel free to reply to this email with any of your fun stories from your vacation in Pigeon Forge. Send us photos, memories, travel tips, anything that you would like to tell us about your experience in the Smokies. Every week we will highlight reader's comments in this article. Thanks for all the feedback. We love to hear from you!
This week's question, "If you had one word to describe Pigeon Forge what would it be and why?"
Last week's question, "It's about time to head out to see the fall colors! Where are your favorite spots to view the fall foliage?"
Jacob writes, "Who doesn't love the fall foliage in the Smokies?!?!?! One of my favorite places is Cades Cove. Also, going to Bryson City and riding the train...so I get off and hike. :)"
Carolyn from West Virginia says, "One of our favorite places to view the fall foliage is the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.  We spend the first few weeks of November in the Smokies each year and always get to see the last of the beautiful colors that God paints on each tree.  We drive through Cades Cove, Wears Valley, New Found Gap, and sometimes all the way over to Cherokee.  We stop along the way to buy and eat boiled peanuts and fudge.  We take lots of pictures of the colorful scenery and ask a few folks to take pictures of us.  We treasure our times in the Smokies and look forward to being there soon."
2012 Pigeon Forge Midnight 8K
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This year's PigeonForge.com Midnight 8K race was a huge success! It was the official state championship race for the 8K distance and we had around 450 participants in the race, which was only its second year.  We're now even more excited for next year's race which will be August 4, 2012 and the race is officially the RRCA Southern Region 8K Championship.  That means next year's winners will be the Region Champs in their divisions and the Southern Region is quite large so that will be a very exciting accomplishment! Next year the race will run a lot like this year.  The Holiday Inn Hotel and Convention Center will be the race host and will be the headquarters for all staging and awards. They will also offer a discount to participants.  The race will run the same course as previous years and planning is already underway.

Fall Foliage Update
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Although we're thinking a lot about Winterfest here in Pigeon Forge it is still fall here in the beautiful Great Smoky Mountains!  The leaves are changing very nicely here in Pigeon Forge and we couldn't be more excited about the beauty that is currently surrounding us.  The higher elevations may be just a little bit past peak but the colors are fantastic right now in the lower elevations, we're still seeing some green mixed in with beautiful reds, yellows and oranges.  Over the next couple weeks the colors should really start turning and will be a beautiful sight to see when traveling to the Smoky Mountains.
